Help Finding Article, Ketchikan Pulp Mill
Posted by BNSF MPLS/ST.P on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 11:53 PM

I'm looking for a short article I believe is in an issue of Model Railroader I would say about 15 years ago. I think it was about the small barge operations they had at the Ketchikan Pulp Mill in Alaska. I can still remember the article photo but I haven't found anything online. Does anybody remember?

I do not remember this article at all. Not to say that my memory is reliable, so hopefully someone can help you out.

I vaguely remember the article but that is about it. I have flown over the mill a few times when we were going into our fish camp. I was surprised to see railroad cars at what I imagined to be an isolated mill. Got the pilot to make a circle over the rail area but that was about it. He also said there was an abandoned piece of track in Ketchikan that served an oil/gas distributor by some sort of barge service. I never found it though. The last time we flew over the mill it was nearly gone.

Salmon fishing and a bit of railfanning. What could be better?
