Years ago I sat next to Meat Loaf at one of my son's hockey games. He was waiting to perform out in the main arena.
maxmanScroll down and there is a picture of him with a train set. Probably just in that movie.

That was Cocoon. He was in that. But that was an "at the movies" movie. But it has been on TV.
I have a vague memory (as many memories are at my age) of a movie on TV - perhaps a "made for TV" movie? - about old folks living in a retirement home. One of the old guys was a retired railroader and had Lionel trains in his room...he might have been played by Brimley? It's maybe 15-20 years ago I'd guess.

I hate meatloaf. A waste of good hamburger. Why, I remember a time when my wife served that stuff, and, oh, wait a minute. I already ranted about that.
Never mind.

I would count that an honor. He is one of my favorites.

xboxtravis7992 To quote Jim on it: "This picture was taken about five minutes after Wilford Brimley, actor and property owner drove up and yelled a stream of profanities at us (even though we were stopped on a public road). At that time, Wilford owned what is now the Thanksgiving Point property. I couldn't believe an actor from 'Touched By An Angel' had such a foul potty mouth. All of the really bad words, over and over."

I don't know about what he said, but I don't think he was ever in 'Touched By An Angel'.
I could be wrong, though.

bedell Do I remember correctly that the actor Wilford Brimley (who died Saturday) was a model train guy? Or was that just part of a role he played?

It might have been something in his movie, End of the Line, where he stole a locomotive from the railroad he worked for to give the CEO a piece of his mind when the railroad decided to close the yard he worked at. It's been a while since I've seen it though...
I dunno if he liked trains or not, but a popular story shared around the local railfans is a time where James Belmont encounted Wilford Brimley in Lehi, Utah in 1997 while Jim was photographing a UP passenger special passing through the area. To quote Jim on it:"This picture was taken about five minutes after Wilford Brimley, actor and property owner drove up and yelled a stream of profanities at us (even though we were stopped on a public road). At that time, Wilford owned what is now the Thanksgiving Point property. So was Wilford a model railroader? No clue. Would he chase down railfans trackside anywhere near his property... oh most definately yes.
