Thanks Mike, I appreciate this and will look at having a go at lighting them up.
I should mentioned that I recall having placed a light inside the shell of one the last time I had one apart and seeing the glow through the number boards. Just couldn't tell you how best to get them to light evenly as I haven't actually done it yet. As RioGrande mentioned, the shells are nice and they are very smooth running locomotives.
Mike
Thank you for this.
Thank you for your information, Mike. I plan on buying one and will detail it so this gives me an idea.
Heck, even more detailed models by other manufacturers don't all have lighted number boards.
The P1k F3 is a lower detail model version of the proto 2000 line, so it can be expect these will not have lighted number boards. That said, the shells are quite decent and they are reported to have smooth running drives.

Hi Craig, welcome to the forum!
My Proto 1000 F3s do not have lighted number boards, however, they appear to be made the same as my Proto 2000 E-units that do, so it should be possible. Would need to mill out some space behind them and provide a light source. It's on my list of things to do, but I haven't gotten to it yet to be able to provide any hints as to how best to approach it.
Hi everyone,
Do the LifeLike Proto 1000 F3 locomotives have lighted number boards? Thanks
