I like your suggestion and am now leaning towards the HJ-42 backdrop and HJ-41 combination for my L-shaped shelf layout. I do plan on having several Walthers Backgound buildings for industrial customers, such as the Commissary Transfer Building (photo) which will be re-purposed as a furniture distributor (boxcars).
My thinking is that the structures and backdrops will complement each other realisitically.
Les Mavor All of the structures in this scene - HS52 in the "Senior" version and HJ42 in the "Junior" version are squared to enable cutting out and mixing/matching to achieve other street scenes. HJ is better suited for that, and I had a lot of fun doing just that on my own layout. Photos on the web or by request. Les

That is good news. I like the #HS-52 Backdrop.
IMHO, in looking at the buildings, that scene would fit nicely as a back drop for a small town themed layout set in any time period from the 1950's -1980's.
I could be mistaken, but it seem to looks good enough to represent the U.S south, southeastern, and midwestern U.S themes.
