First off, wow, I was more tipsy than i thought when i posted that.  it's a bit all over the place.

I have a couple sets of the S Scale couplers that are in use on my On30 fleet.  I really like the couplers and the way they operate.  I hadn't heard about his 3D printer breaking.  It even says that on the homepage of his site, DOH.

On their website seargent is all sold out of S scale couplers.  does anyone know if this is a temporary out of stock or if this is the end of the line.  The S scale stuff is no longer in the site map or other mentions on the site.

They are likely investment cast products.  Frank's 3D printer broke down a year ago or so, parts were no longer available.  He bought a new printer that according to the manufacturer's representative was the equivalent or better printer.   This was not the case and he could not get reliable repeatablility to make investment cast products.

He has placed the designs in the public domain, and there were several people working on making them using various methods before the current situation hit us big time in March.  Since then, I haven't seen much on the Facebook Group.

One of the S Scalers in Scale Rails of Southest Florida told me that the Kadee HO scale "big head" (#5) coupler was spot-on for an S Scale coupler, so that is what he used. Do many S Scalers do that? Is this true?

Personally, I use the KD 802 or 808 (same coupler but one is black the other red). I also have a few SHS (now MTH) couplers.  They may be oversized, but that means I don't have to modify/replace the "air hose" and allows for better operation.  Also a number of my cars come pre-drilled for the 802/808.

Since KD continues to make the 802/808, I assume there must be a number of us that use them.

This was around the time when a few HO scale modelers were using the Kadee HOn3 coupler for better scale appearance.

I don't know their current status.  But I have always found their support of S to be spotty.  While their product looks interesting, I have always stayed with KD because of it.   They seem mostly to be an HO company.

You might try emailing them.
