Thanks everyone! I now have several great leads!

mlehmanPSC has offered several varities of safety tread over the years. They're under new management now, but worth inquiring if you need it. It's offered in raised diamond and raised grid in several thicknesses in 5" x 7" sections.
Yeah, their stuff is, I believe, photo-etched and rather nicely-done.
Here's a close-up view through a loupe, showing the diamond pattern...
The pattern is not cut-through the sheet, even though it appears so in the photo. The brass sheet is .015" or .020" thick.

You might try Royal-Model Diamond Mesh. I’ve used it for several projects over the years.Worked out pretty good for HO metal walkways. I don’t remember where I got it, maybe the LHS now closed.Mel My Model Railroad http://melvineperry.blogspot.com/ Bakersfield, California I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Plano also has a selection:

Another option for you and probably much easier to apply than etched metal would be Archer resin decals:

I am building a M.O.W. flatcar, and the prototype had a raised steel floor. The kind of stuff that you find in some heavy-duty truck beds and the like. Some pictures I have of it right before scrapping show patterns of circular round holds, but I would settle for anything... diamond patterns, holes, etc. I need enough to cover the entire floor of a 40' flatcar, and I don't want a lot of seems.
Does any manufacturer make this stuff? Thanks.
