N scale concrete or cinder block sheet stock
Posted by deadeye43 on Thursday, June 11, 2020 6:32 AM

I'd like to try to scratch build an industrial building, but I am having trouble locating a supplier of N scale cinder block patterned styrene sheet.  Anyone know of a source?

Just happened to catch this when looking for something else.

How about using what You are seeking in, remember TT Scale?

I scratchbuild N Scale buildings.  At first, I looked for patterned sheets.  I finally settled on Plastruct brick, and then painted as blocks.

To tell the truth, at N Scale, unless you are going to do ultra close up photography, I have found that the patterned sheets make very little difference.  The painting is the key.  I find that using plain styrene sheets and patterned sheets are nearly impossible to tell which is which after painting.

Well, there it is.

This sheets look good, and they are very large so there will not be any wall seems.

The July 2020 issue of MR magazine has a scratchbuild of a cinder block building, using N-Scale Architect styrene sheet.

I've used computer printouts of cinder block walls as interiors of structures.  I suppose that would work well if the structure were not right on the front edge of the layout.  Even then, if there is shrubbery in front of the wall, or cars/trucks in front of it, a printed surface might look just fine.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
