Switches
Posted by Ringo58 on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 11:24 AM

I'm moving soon and decided to cut my 4x8 layout in half ( nothing was glued down yet ) and make a 2x8 switching layout with 2 industries, one on each end. I need 3 switches, one right 2 left. I want to go atlas but I dont like the unprototypical look of the manual switchmachine that comes with them. Will the caboose industires ground throw work with atlas? Or am I better off using PECO.

Yes, I believe you can simply remove the Atlas thing and replace it with a caboose or a Tortoise if you prefer.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Peco is a little more compact, if that makes a difference to you and your available space.

Caboose Industries ground throws work easily with Atlas turnouts.  Some even come with adapters to fit the Atlas throw bar.  See the manufacturer site for info on the appropriate product https://www.cabooseind.com/product-info .

If you go with Peco turnouts, you can use the spring loaded feature to throw the point rails and you won't need Caboose Industries ground throws.

Caboose Industries ground throws work with just about any turnouts.  I've used them on Atlas, Peco, Micro Engineering, Central Valley, Shinohara, and scratchbuilt ones, too.
