Thanks, l still have the exploded drawings  that came with it and I'm sure I'm trying to do it right. However, at 81, the hand-eye coordination, and patience, leaves much to be desired

Welcome to the ranks of what used to be called "Metal Men," us "Mature" men"--with silver in our hair, gold in our teeth--and lead in our butts."  I have a couple of modeling friends of mature years in the same boat.  We went from HO into O scale because our elderly eyes just weren't up to dealing with the size anymore.  (Something to be taken into consideration that seldom occurs to people: O scale is so much bigger that you have to add more detail!  Luckily, there's so much available these days than in past years.)  Good luck!  Stay safe, everybody.

bruce22, Any model train hobby shops or clubs around you in CA.? There must be someone close to you that could help you out while you watch and understand.

I guess that would have to be, watch at a safe distance.

Not sure how to help, but yesterday I finished installing decoders in two of them.  The tabs went in easily on both.  When i removed the motors, i marked each one as to how the motor and saddle went back in.

I would just keep fiddling with it.

Never took mine apart but is it possible you reversed it before putting it back in.

For the life of me l am still unable to get the motor saddle tabs to latch into the mainframe. If l remove the saddle entirely will l just render the motor inoperable. Thanks, and thanks to the previous replies.
