Hi guys.
After a long hiatus from the model railroad world I decided to get back into it. I kind of have to to keep busy. I was diagnosed with a serious condition that is keeping me from going back to work. Early unplanned retirement was not what I was expecting. I still have one daughter and two grand kids in the small house but things may change in the next year.
Then I can get back to building the road and what was built out of storage.
So my first question is, Whats new? The newest item I remember buying was a TCS WOW steam decoder. I put it in a Sunset brass 2-10-0 PRR I1sa. I see a lot of board type 21 pin decoders. Is that the latest and greatest? I have a Brass 2-8-0 that needs a sound decoder but the tender is small with short sides. I'm thinking a Tsunami micro and small rectangular speaker may work.
My last question (on this post) is. Can the headlights on an Athearn SD60E with Tsunami 2 sound be set to dim when stopped without pushing F10? The kids got it for me for my birthday. Honoring Veterans scheme. Love the sound and lights. Huge upgrade from the old blue box units.
Thank you and sorry for taking up all the bits to post this.
Pete.
Welcome back!
Have you tried static grass? More manufacturers are building the applicators, and there are more companies producing the grass itself as well. Since I started using it, all my scenery looks much better. And, it's really easy to use and get good results.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Page 28 of the Tsunami 2 manual says F7 not F10. Loksound has the ability to program a Rule 17 function, but I don't see that in the Tsunami manual.

Your right. F7 is dim. My bad. Too many functions for a simple minded individual such as myself.
Mr B.
Its nice to see your still here. I remember quite a few members from years past.
Unfortunately until the grand kids move out I'm still in the collection phase. When a spare room opens up the sections of railroad can come out of storage again. Although my 5 year old grandson loves to build things with his Papa. He has his own drill and bits already. But his battery was taken away when he started drilling holes in his wall after he helped me put a shelf up. His mom was mad! She just painted the walls the week before. Somehow I was the bad guy for buying him a power tool.
Static grass was an expensive endevor back in the day. Glad to see its become affordable to the masses. Railroad model craftsman magazine and MR had some articles about converting household items to use as applicators.
Thanks
Pete
