How many railroads other than Erie and Virginian actually ran a Triplex, and how many total were manufactured? Although it would make a great model, the roads that actually used it probably limits its saleability too much in the model maker's eyes.

By in large, the triplexes were not widely successful as prototypes, none have survived, and there is probably insufficient demand to make manufacturing a model one a viable financial proposition. Having said all that, if they do, I want one too. The VGN prototype, please.
I'd rather have a 2-10-10-2 though.
What could have happened.... did.

I fear we'll never see one of these...although I'd personally welcome such an option. Two reasons,in my mind, will keep manufacturers away from these. The first one is price. Thanks to the limited run policy our train manufacturers cheri***he development would raise the price so high that it wouldn't be within anybody's range.Only the wealthiest modelers could afford them. The other reason is practical operation. How many of us modelers have layouts that could accomodate these jewels?I have a hard time running my Challenger on my layout...it stays on track but...doesn't look as great as it should however. But don't get me wrong,I'd love to have one anyways just for the thrill of having one.

Hi All,
Seeing all the plastic steam being manufactured, when are we going to see a triplex in plastic?
