Mike,

I also did not like MTH from years ago but over the past couple of years they have upgraded the way they run and run with other brands. I have consisted them with Athearn, Bachmann and others and they run just fine. They also have kadee couplers and so many sounds it is unbelievable.

I bought the latest run of the UP 1943 and it is incredible imo, great sounds, detail, paint and runs great. Yes some things can be improved but overall for me they are doing schemes I like and the quality is there. For now they are my go to mfg. But of course that may change if they drop the ball again.

what do you mean by that? Dave

Only the fact that I do not trust MTH locos on my DCC system.  I've read to many horror stories on this forum, and others, about their DCS not getting along with DCC.

I have no personal experience, just don't want to give it a try.

I CAN say, the Rugged Rails MTH set ( "O") scale, I bought for my grandson was very good, sound and operation.

Scaletrains, and Rapido will most likely not do these locomotives, Athearn, maybe. MTH did a great job on the recently released UP 1943 locomotive and I will assume the same will be done on the CSX 911 first responders and the veterans units will also be top-notch. Looking forward to them.

I am kind of curious, as I have not seen any model shots, if MTH has found a way to do a neat little detail, found on all 3, but pictured below on CSX 911, in the cab window glass....

I think on the model it would be very hard to do and even if they did would you be able to see it. MTH will have cab figures so printing on the Windows is most likely not feasible but you never know.

Yes, the cab side windows do indeed have a printing on them, but it is transparent enough that the crew can still see out. While not totally transparent, its not totally opaque either.

If they did, that will make them all look all the better!

Scaletrains...

Looking at you here...

Although on second thought their Gevo prices are through the roof. Glad I got mine while they were still $230

But if anyone's going to make these locos right, it will have to be scaletrains. Rapido probably won't make these at all.

And Athearn? Maybe. We'll see.

I'm beginning to realize that Windows 10 and sound decoders have a lot in common. There are so many things you have to change in order to get them to work the way you want.

While I would like CSX 911, as several of my family have indeed been first responders, I don't think I can swing it right now...

I did get to see the 1:1 scale ones though, all 3 of them.

Anybody going to get one? The new MTH one should be here soon,

These special schemes honoring first responders and veterans are some of the best schemes I have seen.
