I had my doubts about there being a Railroad Days and/or a train show this June, due to the covid 19 virus restrictions (but I have motel reservations anyway), but I just learned from a long time exhibitor that Larry Anglund, the guy who runs the model train part of the show (there are also die cast and farm toys), passed away Thursday while mowing his lawn.
Larry took over from Harry Grossman (who ran the show for years as a fundraiser for Carl Sandburg College) and had done a fine job with this excellent show. Just getting into an air conditioned building in Galesburg in June can be a blessed relief but this has been a really good show under Larry's guidance. He'll be much missed but I wonder if there is anyone in Galesburg who will step up and take over, particularly since this year's is still so iffy.
