Just arrived from the 3D printers:
Here is an approximate CA-5 caboose shell designed to fit on the Atlas frame. I call it "approximate" because the Atlas caboose is a bit shorter to scale than the prototype, so the horizontal dimensions were reduced proportionately. I think it still looks pretty close, and for me it's "good enough." The express trucks are from Micro-Scale.
I still have to fabricate the curved grabirons and add roof walks, chimneys and a bit of paint and decal markings. An Atlas original sits next to it for comparison.

Yes. I used prototype drawings from Cabooses of the Union Pacific Railroad by Strack and Ehernberger, and measurements of the Atlas model. I drew the 3D Model in AutoCAD and had it printed at Shapeways.
