Hello and happy modelling everyone, i was just wondering....Does or has anyone else had any issues with the Atlas Classic Line of DCC ready locomotives running very, very slow? I have a brand new Atlas Classic in N scale that i added a Digitrax decoder to. First time on the track and it acts like it just dont have any speed to it at all. I disassembled the loco and removed all the factory grease on it and reapplied some Loco Lube to all gears. It seemed to run a little better but still dont have any speed to it. I am running it on an NCE Powercab DCC setup right now and with the speed turned up to a maximum of 28 it still acts like it just dont have any speed to it at all. Anyone else had any similar problems like this or know of a fix? Thanks!
I had something similar to this with an HO scale, and a factory reset fixed it.
Read Powercab instructions, and the instructions from Atlas loco on doing a reset.

It's always good to test it in DC before a decoder installation so you know you have no functional issues with the engine itself. If old hardened factory grease was a problem, you would have seen it in DC mode.
My Bachmann 45 tonner has lost it's mind on a number of occassions and one of the ways it showed it was very slow running. A decoder reset fixes it. Be sure to cycle the power after you reset it.
Most but not all decoders require you to write 8 into cv8. This assumes that you are running it on a layout is proven to work normally.
You would do better to post electrical questions in the electrical forum where the electrical geeks hang out.

Ditto on testing these things on DCC before adding a decoder. But if it's really slow - you may have F6 engaged for switching speed. On Digitrax decoders, F6 is the default key to activate this, which cuts momentum to 1/4 - and also cuts top speed in half.

Thanks guys for the information. Also, i did check it on DC before adding the decoder to it hoping that the decoder would help it lol...But it didnt. I will try resetting the decoder to factory defaults and see what happens....Thanks again everyone!
If it doesn't run on DC, no amount of adding a decoder will fix it.
What was its problem on DC?
If it had speed issues, could be a bad motor, could be a wiring issue, or other problems.
