I have several BLI steamers though I rarely us the smoke feature. My grandsons love it, however. Most any good quality smoke oil (fluid) will work, but I prefer JT's MEGA-STEAM. It is made in several 'scents' and seems cleaner than most.

Its available on line at: http://www.megasteam.com/

I've also seen it sold at several train shows in the northern Ohio area.

I have a BLI Santa Fe Northern 4-8-4 with the smoke feature. I turned mine off after reading about what that oil produced smoke does when it settles on the layout. The smoke is oily, so I don't want it on the track.

Smoke oil for BLI Steamer
Posted by mdmack75 on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 4:35 PM

I just bought a BLI DCC steamer, which has smoke capability, and am looking for recommendations for smoke oil. There is a lot out there, but I don't know if I am able to use something other than their Broadway Limited oil.

Thanks in advance
