"Reefer" is slang for "refrigerator."

Yep I've got the Rio Grande one as well. One other question though: what are Reefers??

I presume you got the Union Pacific model, right? High Iron's right, you'd be hauling expedited freight with that one--lots of reefer blocks during the season. I've seen photographs of them on passenger consists on the LA&SL subdivision between Salt Lake and Los Angeles--usually heavyweight or the 2-tone gray streamliners that UP had in the mid-'forties, but I don't think they were usually classified as passenger haulers unless there was a power shortage. The cars would all be '30's-'50's vintage, no double-stacks or 85' high cars. I think you'll like the Challenger--I finally bit the bullet and got the Genesis Rio Grande 3805, and it's a mean machine. The radio control is a bit tricky at first, though. At least it was for me. Now I'm having fun with it. And God, does that puppy haul!

The Challenger is designed to haul at high speed over very large stretches of western lands. I would run Hot loads like Reefers, merchandise and other frieght that cannot be delayed with it. Even Cattle is a consideration within the time limits between water and rest stops. Lucius Beebe wrote a few books in the library that showed challengers in pictures hauling what I described above.

I've just taken delivery of my new Athearn Genesis Challenger, question is what should it be hauling (freight or passenger cars). From the online history it looks most likely to be freight, but what type of freight?

Hope someone can help me out on this one.
