Responding shows there is interest in parts for these older E60 locomotives and encourages me to keep moving forward with the project.
The new gears will be 3d printed parts that can be pressed onto the drive axles of the E60 locomotives.

This is interesting! But, which version of the Bachmann E60? I may be mistaken, but from my understanding there have been 2 or 3 variants of the 1970's-90's HO E60.
I currently have a DCC Bachmann HO unit that I've been planning to hop up (detail-wise) for the past few years. However, it's running performance is "mediocroe" and I certainly want to improve it before upgrading it with a LokSound set up.
Do you know if your gears will also cover the 2000-era production E60's?

My gears will be for the 70's or 80's version that suffered from the "bad batch" of Delrin plastic gears that all cracked and failed.
These are the E60 units with the plastic pantographs that don't actually work.

I've got one that came to me in non running order due to the gears. It's always been my intentions to find a fix for it. Bachmann only can send me another loco of a different type, as they have no parts for these anymore. The last thing I need is another F7 in ATSF colors. LOL!

I wonder if the company is Shapeways? I just looked at the site. They make a lot of stuff for Bachmann locos.

Respectfully, I don't think that he's trying to sell the parts here. He's providing a service in letting us know that brand new parts, that were not available on the market before, will be available for sale.
Sounds like a "win-win" post that should be of benefit to modelers.

I tend to agree with you. Hopefully he has spread the word to other places I can't mention in here.
It's too bad that sometime we have to "tip toe" with caution, in the attempt to provide, and distribute information that all can use.
I believe that information and ideas should be able to be linked to all the various and numerous "places" we go for ideas.
Some are like that now, but not all.
The OP is wise to ask carefully. Over in the Trains forums, a discussion on 'what to do with old issues' was given a not-too-subtle moderation warning against sale, for nothing more than a mention that one poster would provide his collection for the cost of postage and packing.
So long as what is asked for is an expression of interest, and not a commitment to buy sets once they have been produced, this thread doesn't cross the no-selling line ... unless it has now been imposed, by fiat, that even the suggestion of making something for sale is now forbidden here.
Pity we can't adopt the convention that many other enthusiast groups have adopted, that 'sale' posts must be clearly marked as such in the subject line or made only on certain days or during certain hours. Or comply with strict rules such as 'no commercial promotion'.
Oh yes: I don't currently own one of these locomotives, but would be interested in finding one if replacement gears were easily available. So count me 'in' as far as interest in this project is concerned.
Overmod, so well and realistically stated. I do hope that the gears turn out to be useful for the older production Bachmann E60CP's. (Although "tall" on hope, I do hope that eventually Walthers decides to produce the E60's again, as the GK/Walthers version was more accurate.....lengthwise. The Bachmann versions are slightly shorter.)
I'll continue to explore ways in which I can improve the drive on my current Bachmann DCC unit. I'm hoping that a Mashima or Canon-clone type motor can be adapted to the drive.
Hi everyone, I've not forgotten about this project. Sadly Covid-19 has delayed my efforts for an indefinite period of time. The gears would be custom made in batch. I had thought about offsetting production cost by having a large batch made that I could sell on to interested parties. The gears would be sold in sets for the power truck on the E60C in question.
Lets hope for some better days ahead and a return to our normal state of affairs.
