Kanamodel CP Enclosed Water Tower Part ?
Posted by BATMAN on Saturday, February 29, 2020 4:45 PM

Hi all.

I am building a CP enclosed water tower and there is a part that I have no idea where it goes. It is not in the instructions. I am guessing it goes under the roof to hold the water indicator level. Any ideas?

Brent, we'll have to see it.  Could you take an image?  The instructions are lost?

If the item has a series of angled surfaces to mimic, or to seem to fit, inside the roof, then my guess is that it is indeed the 'anchor block' for the bottom of the pole.

I think if it went under the roof they wouldn't bother with the bolt detail?

Perhaps it is a spout outlet flange? Or could it be flashing for the stove pipe?

I posed the question on FB as well and did get only one reply. That suggestion was a valve plate that goes between the spout and outlet pipe. It does seem to fit nicely there, not sure whether it goes horizontally or vertically. There is a little tab on one end so I am thinking vertically with the tab down. I cannot find a single photo that shows the detail either on the model or the prototype.

Thanks for the input Crandell and Ed.

There are no good pics on Ebay.  I found this one which suggests to me that it horizontally mounted.  There seems to be a gap on either side of the plate.

I can't see the tab

I have only built one wooden water tank in my 48 year's of modeling......

But, I'm pretty sure it's a Lightning Rod.

Rust...... It's a good thing !
