tankertoad135Ahh, keep the swearing mild Mr. Little Timmy. HEHE.
Howdy Don ! you snuck in here , and I didnt even see you.
( I only "swore" twice...... maybe thrice ...)
Rust...... It's a good thing !
Who is the guy, what has led him to this point in life that his possessions amount to three bags? Add the very up market coupe, and I would title this picture, “Contrast”.
Thanks Bear, Choosing the Neo 57' Chrysler Imperial for a vehicle prop was more about it's color than luxury designation, but had the same thoughts after the photo shoot.
Frank, The Imperial is a Crown Southhampton; piller-less hard top. The two Imperial owners I knew never thought of their rides as 'generic', lol.
Again, many thanks to all the contributors and have a good 1st week of March, regards, Peter

On a lighter note, the Bears Big Book of Yank Tanks doesn’t identify the coupe, what is it? Once again, thanks to all contributors. Cheers, the Bear.
Looks like a generic Chrysler Imperial to Me!.......Possibly Late 50's....1959.....memory withstanding.
Nice work everyone!
Take Care!

Little TimmyI think I killed the "weekend photo fun, by dominating the thread with my stuff.
"One difference between pessimists and optimists is that while pessimists are more often right, optimists have far more fun."
Little TimmyI think I killed the "weekend photo fun, by dominating the thread with my stuff. I will "try" to keep it down to just a few picture's next weekend.
Don't ever appologize for that. I have take over WPF a couple of times when I was really excited about a project.
This is the right place the let your excitement for your current project shine on through.
See everybody next week.
Until then...

Living the dream.
Figured I would update where I got with this, before the weekend is over.
First stage of " weathering" is on.
I think I killed the "weekend photo fun, by dominating the thread with my stuff.
I will "try" to keep it down to just a few picture's next weekend.
Little TimmyNow, I'm happy with it !
I agree. I like this better than the original. Nice work.
York1 John
Ed, Thanks for opening the WPF, and with good signs.
Thanks to all the contributors and viewers, have a good weekend and leap day. Regards, Peter
Timmy: I think the expanded spacing and roman lettering looks much better than the first attempt. Nicely done!
SeeYou190I have a new forty foot boxcar to share this week. The EL PASO AND EASTERN is ready for service
Love the car ! Way back in the day, we had the El Paso & Western running through Douglas. Now that you have given me something to "shoot for" , I'm gonna have to do some research, and come up with a few of my own.
York1Timmy, Your work looks good. If you decide to spread the letters and make them bigger, be sure to post pictures with "before" and "after". I'm not an expert, but I think you're right. However, it looks fine to me as it is.
Thank's. I got stuck on the "Western" font lettering only because it turned out so good on the locomotive.
Ya gotta admit..... she's one pretty locomotive !
Watching this thread every weekend has got me at least "trying" to get stuff done....
( now, if the wife would just stop demanding that I finish the house ........)
Now, I'm happy with it !
Sorry about the glare in the picture's . Track fiddler , This light is for you. L O L
Now, to sit back and let it all set for an hour . Then I will break out the micro-sol, and by tommorrow the "weathering will begin......
( waiting ...... waiting .... waiting ...... Grrrrrr. I HATE waiting ! )
Ahh, keep the swearing mild Mr. Little Timmy. HEHE.
Nice looking stuff developing here Gents and love the photos. Here is my lone CNW unit, a first run Athearn SD40-2. I spent lots of years up in Rapid City, SD and have many a CNW picture in my archives. This unit is a bit out of the CNW numbering scheme, I don't know why, but, it's my RR.
Don; Prez, CEO or whatever of the Wishram, Oregon and Western RR
OK..... I wiped the car clean, ...
Now to try again. I decided to go with condensed railroad roman, and spread it out a bit more.
I will get back to you guys in about 2 hour's ( The "swearing" will be the most time consuming. )
Another great start to the best thread on the forum. Thanks, Ed, for starting this with your signs. Be sure to give us some pictures when you get them on the layout.
Rick and Kevin, I am envious of your skill at making boxcars look like the real thing.
Garry, my favorite -- passenger cars. From the part I can see, your kit-bashed coach looks great.
Allan, another favorite -- Union Pacific. There are some on the forum who don't like Union Pacific -- they just don't know what they are talking about.
Timmy, Your work looks good. If you decide to spread the letters and make them bigger, be sure to post pictures with "before" and "after". I'm not an expert, but I think you're right. However, it looks fine to me as it is.
I finally(!) finished the strip mall building. I still need to add some cars and people, but this has been a frustrating build, and has taken a lot longer than I wanted. I'm not real happy with the signs, but with my age, eyesight, and N Scale, I may have to buy some signs instead. As I said several weeks ago, I made this based on a model I saw, but the model was too expensive for me, so I decided to make it myself.
I threw this together, just as a test to see what font/ letter layout I wanted to go with....
I am NOT happy with it, so back to the drawing board.
I think it needs to be spread out over more of the carside. And, it need's to be a bigger font..... maybe railroad Roman ???
Ed: Those new speed limit signs are going to be a great detail. Don't stab yourself!
Rick: Two more great freight cars this week. I am a fan of the gray covered hopper. I sure looks like it is ready for work.
Garry: That is an interesting passenger car to add to your fleet. The history of the prototype car was appreciated.
Allan: That is a very good picture of the train rounding the curve.
I have a new forty foot boxcar to share this week. The EL PASO AND EASTERN is ready for service.
Please keep the shares coming. Have a great weekend everyone!
Thanks for starting off WPF Ed. Those are some good looking signs. Look to be very well made.
Rick - Great cars as usual. I particularly like the PC boxcar and the history lesson with it.
Garry - Interesting very clean looking car.
Here is one from the BRVRR. Grandpa playing with his trains: UP 8818 at Pasture curve with a mixed freight.
Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. Thanks to you WPF is always the best thread of the week.
Remember its your railroad

Ed .... Yur speed signs look great and should add some niocedetail on your layout.
Rick .... PC boxcar and the CB&Q hopper are outstanding. I like the SP SD45's.
...
A quick project this week is to make a "close enough" model of CB&Q 483. It is n observation car which ahd been assigned to the NP North Coast Limted. After being withdrand from NCL service, it was painted silver. It was used as a substitute observation car on Zephyrs when regular observation cars were in the shops. It was also used on special trains. You can see part of my kitbashed coach.
Here is the prototype (Placement of windows is not the same, but I do not want to change them on the model.) :
Here it is before repainting while still assigned to the NCL.

Thanks for starting us out Ed, a neat little detail that is not on most layouts.
Got a couple of cars completed this week!
First is one of a series of Penn Central Boxcars that I a modeling. The prototype was a Lot 136-B off the NYC that was a rebuild and stretch of a 40' PS1 Boxcar from Lot 842-B by the Beech Grove Shops, as these 400 cars were renumbered during the merger they were repainted even though the rebuild occured in 1967. The letter A means the car was restricted for clean loading items like flour or newsprint. This car was asssigned to Bufallo, NY for flour loading. I started out with a IMRC 50' Box, removed the side sill and made a new from Evergreen plastic to replicate the picture of the prototype, also lowered all the ladders and removed the roofwalk. Also substituted a 10' YSD Door for the 9' Door and in doing so I removed the cast on door guides and made new ones from Evergreen Plastic strips. Car was painted with Floquil Penn Central Green and lettered with Microscale Decals from a couple of different PC and NYC sets.
Next car is a Tangent PS 4740CF Covered Hopper, painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Car was delivered just prior to the BN Merger and stayed in Burlington Paint for quite a while in grain service in the plains states.
A pair of Athearn SD45's with a mixed freight on the Strongsville Club Layout.
Thanks for looking,
Rick Jesionowski

Once Again — Time For Weekend Photo Fun!
All Are Welcome!
Here is an opportunity to showcase any recent project, what's on your workbench or layout progress, or just a favorite photo of your model railroad..
In like a LION and out like a Lamb. End of February (and a leap-day, too) plus the first day of March. Cold and snowy for many of us.
Please feel free to post any model railroad related photos here — past or present. This is a place to share photos of your layout, equipment or current project, completed or in progress.
I decided to play with a "mini-project" this week and build-up these neat looking speed signs, based on a D.L. & W. design: I assembled them using a slightly different practice.

These are sharp, etched brass signs from K-V Model Shops.

Perhaps I'll get a chance to "plant" a few and post photos, soon.
On to more great Stuff!
