I'm going to start working on building my first layout soon, involving the New York Central RR.

I love looking at layout pictures, and could use some ideas, so I'm looking for anybodys layout pictures. I would really like to see a NYC railroad, but I would like to see anyone's work or work in progress.

Mine is sure work in progress, Backwards!!! Took it apart to add extensions and just finishing the benchwork this weekend.

Well, not NYC, but built on an ex-NYC /PC line. In fact the railroad has begun to more backward in time so that I can run more NYC equipment. See the East Central Indiana RR http://cid.railfan.net/eci_new.html

I included the following on your "Getting Started" post but don't know if you ever got to see it.

You can check out the link below my picture. I'm just starting out on my layout so it's still got a ways to go. I'm trying to model the 30's and early '40's - early steam/diesel transition. The freight house colors are my best approximation of what I have found in reference books.

As you can see by the pics, I have both a 2-8-2 Mikado and an ALCO S1 switcher in NYC. Both are VERY nice locomotives and DCC-ready. The Mike is made by Athearn; the switcher, Proto 2000. The diesel can still be had from Trainworld.com for $29.99 (reg. $110 MSRP). The detailing is terrific and it's a sweet lil' runner.

if you click the link at the bottom of my sig u'll get lots and lots of outdated pictures. New pictures comming as soon as i complete the switchign area and mains lines. As of this posting i'm 5 feet near completion of Main #2 and 2 feet from completion of Main #1. I have 2 spurs added so far in my swithcing district. but only has littel bit of track
