model railroad flats you can use
Posted by subman on Sunday, January 19, 2020 1:46 PM

I will try again and hope my post does not disappear again. Back in Oct 2012 a member named Tomcat posted a number of railroad flats that we could use however some 9 years later these flats all have a Photobucket overlay on them. Could some one tell me what I need to do to use some of these flats again. Thanks

Photobucket began charging to use their site to store photos. If he hasn't coughed up the subscription fee, the pictures won't appear, just a Photobucket logo.

Photobucket experienced a major outage, I believe, just before or just after Christmas.   While my account was somewhat useable a few days later, those of many others are still not yet working at all.
Mine seems to have now fully returned, and staff there has re-assured me that no ones' photos are gone, and they will eventually re-appear if they were visible prior to the outage.

If I'm not mistaken, photo storage on photobucket is still free, but hosting for photos, if you want to post them here or elsewhere, f'rinstance, will cost you, although not the almost $500.00 yearly that was originally proposed.

I can no longer log into my free photobucket account.  I assume the pics are gone.

Are you referring to the signs Tomcat posted for use? If so either he or someone else doing the same thing showed up on a Facebook site making available all those signs again. A search may be in order.

The Tomcat thread is Alive and Well

But they are signs not flats.

If you have a free photobucket account, your pictures should still be there, but only as stored-photos.  They are not "hosted", so you can access them for viewing, but cannot post them here for others to see.

Your photos may not currently be visible to you because of the outage I mentioned in my earlier post, but according to staff at photobucket, no one's photos have been lost, and they will eventually be accessible again.

No I am referring to the 7 pages of flats he posted. I also know of the many signs he posted but those I think are still available without the watermark

IIRC, there was some issue about perimissions to use some of the textures he used to construct the building flats, so Tomcat took the building flats down.

You could send Tomcat a personal message and ask.  I looked on his facebook page and did not see anything that I would call flats and many of his building pics are from Google earth.  His pictures are never ending so I did not get to the end.

Firefox doesn't work for sending personal messages in this forum, you have to use Chrome or something else.

Despite the shortcomings of this Forum's PM system, I've never had any difficulties using Firefox for PMs.

What program do you use to open it?  Windows says It can't open it unless I pick a program, or search the web for one.

I'll pass, I never have the need for any exotic file systems, until just now, trying to open this.

Never mind, maybe the OP is in to this stuff and can use your info.

Thanks anyway.

My problem now is, the first time it asked to pick a program, I picked Win. Picture Viewer, which won't open it, now when I try to do this all again, I don't get to choose a program, it tries to use Win, Picture viewer.

I don't know how to set it back to where I can pick a program.

Oh well.

Neither one of those are exotic file systems  they are simple compression programs for large files     I used them for art work dealing with major colleges all over the US and companies

Your file system is what is in windows

and as for exotic  adobe illustrator  corel draw   photoshop  those are exotic

That rar file is 320mb  if I pull all the files out of it 1.23 GB

Read what I posted just before you posted.  I can't choose a file any more.

Now I can't even do that, as the earlier post you made with the link is gone.

Missing post and threads have been plaguing this forum the last few days.

What a mess this place is!

If you downloaded the rar file it's on your pc  right ?  you right click on the file and it should come up with a window pick open with then choose which program to use

I've scrolled to the top of this thread and back down many times, I don't see it, or the two pictures you posted.

Is it in a different thread?

Oh well, I'll just quit.  Right clicking doesn't give me a program choice, since I first tried in Win. Pictures, it keeps using that program.

Thanks for all your responses.

No Win 7, and in a month I'm getting a new one as support for 7 has ended.

I do have my laptop in the office with 10, maybe I'll try that.

I'm using win 7  so the right click should work   Ok right click the rar file  about the fourth entry down in that window it says  "open with"   if you have 7 zip installed it will show it or choose default program
