Tony's O scale layout was planned for this year all along. He's had that built and at shows for months nowl.Project layouts that are on MRVP and then featured in the magazine are way ahead of schedule on MRVP, as in, the whole series is completed and filmed long before it appears in the magazine. The M&E is the project railroad for 2021. The Canadian Canyons video series was done before it ever appeared in the magazine. I kind of wish they didn't do that - since I had watched all the CC videos (yes, even though I don't model in N scale and don't model modern equipment - that's ANOTHER thing I wish people would stop complaining about, most everythign is applicable to ANY scale), I pretty much just skipped over the articles in the magazine. I'd already seen all the details in building it, and with far more detail than a couple of pages of pictures could ever hope to equal.

This may be a "replacement" project covering for the now apparently postponed David Popp project.

Or it could well have always been planned to have Tony Koester’s Project this year and the M&E layout next year (or further for all we know). I make this estimate as I notice that MR bpseems to build their layouts a while before publishing them. I think Canadian Canyons came out in MR around two years after the first MRVP videos on the topic, and then the layout was likely built way before then.

The 2020 MR project layout which is featured beginning with the Jan. 2020 issue is a compact 0 scale switching layout by Tony Koester. This may be a "replacement" project covering for the now apparently postponed David Popp project.

MR used to have a 24 hour webcam in their shop.  IT problems did away with that.

Their projects are both magazine articles and video productions.  It takes longer to build it and explain what you are doing, with inevitable video retakes, than it would if it was their personal railroad.

I recal in an ASK MRVP at the beginning of last year David said the new MR/MRVP project layout was to be a model of the Morristown and Erie (as feature in Charlie’s trackside adventures a while back, and in on of the 3D track plans that MRVO did.

However as I no longer have access to MRVP, I can’t say how that has progressed... I think David later mentioned that as he injured his leg, he had to delay initial construct, but I know nothing more...

I too remember the M&E was going to be built, I belive in Kent's old office. David probaby injured his leg skiing or doing some other stunt for ask MRVP...

Do you remember where he made the anouncement? Maybe MRVP?

2020 Project Layout
Posted by rventura on Monday, January 6, 2020 11:11 PM

Months ago, David Popp previewed a new project layout that was to be built in one of the Kalmbach offices. Haven't heard anything about it since. When can we expect to see this new project layout?
