Yes, I was telling TF my favorite album and then my favorite song, not necessarily on that album. I really think The Doors hit their peak on the LA Woman album, even though the song LA Woman is not my favorite.
"The End" was the song that really got me onto The Doors.
One late night, probably 1:00 a.m., I was driving part of a 400 mile stretch. I found the station KOMA from Oklahoma City, and I heard The End for the first time. I was hooked.
A college friend and I used to play Doors songs on twin keyboards. I should have been studying.

I have always been a Beach Boys fan, even in my unfortunate hippie years. I still love to sing along with any Beach Boys song on the radio.
I was amazed to hear that the Beatles' album, "Sgt. Pepper's..." was inspired by the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" album. Many people believe the Beatles' "Pepper" album was their best, and those same people don't give Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys the credit they deserve.

As orignally conceived, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was supposed to include Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.
I heard an interview with Paul McCartney once where he said he drew on Beach Boys influences when writing Penny Lane. I did not know that about the entire Sgt. Pepper album.
After I heard that interview, and listened to Penny Lane, you really sort of can hear a Beach Boys song embedded in there.

Boy 4 days can blow by fast when you are semi retired.
Only real thing I got done was fixing a leaky bathroom fauct. What took me so long was I could not get the plastic cap off the handel? I did the other one say 6 to 8 years ago and don't remember it being a problem? I have been messing with this for a month on and off, manily off.
So today I said the heck with this and used a small drill bit to drill the plastic cap off. Drill Bit pulled the sucker right off and did not destroy it. Ok,it has a small hole but you have to look for it. After that it took me maybe 5 minutes for replacing the warsher. Funny not to hearing the drip, drip, drip.
Dirk Pip was very Loving toward me today. After breakfest him and I watched DYI TV for 2 hours. Well the battery pack for the drill was dead so I had the time to kill anyway.
Tonight I walked him another quarter mile not because I had to, but I wanted to. Both him and I need the exercise. Maybe be Monday before work I will walk him around the neighborhood.

I was just sitting down here and my Queen brought me a splash of Glenlivet! She said it cost way more than the Glenfiddich and I think it is much smoother and I like it better.
The Canucks dispatched the Wild 4-1 and then we did a quick 7 km with he dogs coming in with the dark. There was a movie/TV set going up for tomorrow, not sure what it was for.
I regret getting sucked into the anti-China loco thread, while I am no fan of the country I feel they unfairly singled out, nuff said.
Maybe the reason I am easily rattled today is my Sister and her flip flops of convenience. Her nephew is 48 and just came out of the closet about being gay. When he was a young teenager I suspected he was gay and told my sister so. When he grew up he moved away and I said it was so he could pursue his life without the rath of his family. She denied it all and use to be a gay hater. Well now everything is peachy keen with him coming out which is good. Too bad she couldn't have done that along with his family before he had to move away.
Ed, I may take you up on the Fixing the Royal Hudson thread. All that gear on the sides makes me think twice about tackling the job. I guess it is just more parts to send to Rapido when the time comes.

Hmmmm.... Never actually met either of those guys, but I did meet Sigurd Rasher once and had a major crush on his daughter..... I'll let you look that one up! I did go to college with Lou Soloff (lead trumpeter with B, S, & T) way back when. Used to sit and chat with Chuck Mangione in the main hall at Eastman School back when he was directing the Eastman Jazz Ensemble. He was just as crazy in real life as he was on stage.
The second biggest downer for me in my lifetime was going deaf and losing my singing carreer that I was supposed to have after I retired from teaching music. If I get time this winter I am going to see about setting up a hearing loop attached to a small mixer and see if I can get back playing classical guitar again. (Of course the biggest horror in my life was losing my wife to cancer 32 years ago. I do now have a small glimmer of hope that life might turn good again for me.... )

McCartney had said that Pet Sounds had influenced him and he did admire Brian Wilson. Back in the USSR is an obvious tribute to Wilson.
The Ukraine girls really "knock me out".... "Knock me out" was taken directly from California Girls.
And yes, you will never meet John Lennon, George Harrison, Dennis or Carl Wilson for obvious reasons, but any one else, you never know.

Ok, so I smoked a joint with Long John Baldry before it was legal. Tim Allen, too.
I was in dorm bands through college. The first one was with a guy named Jan Wissmuller who claimed to be from Ronnie and the Daytonas. My senior year, I was in a band with a keyboard guy named Tom Scholz, now known as the founder and main guy of Boston.
The other guys were good. I wasn't.

If you want to get really obscure... I went to elemetary school with the son of the drummer from The Cyrkle, they had a hit with "Red Rubber Ball" in the mid 1960s.
My band, Negative Ground, opened for Frank Black, the former lead singer of The Pixies (actually we opened for the opener) at our only performance in Tampa, at The Ritz in Ybor City when I was in my early 20s. We only knew five songs.
Then our lead guitar player, Lou, got very sick, and we broke up.

Music discussion - I have shook the hands (and gotten an autograph) of both of the Bellamy Brothers, and met Pat Monahan, the lead singer for Train, all in NW PA! (Bellamy Brothers did a outdoor concert, Pat Monahan appeared at my retail job. He did grow up in Erie, so I presume he was out visiting family.)
I thought Mr. Monahan looked familiar, but then he needed something he had called in ahead of time, and provided his name for it. I said "Pat Monahan as in, Train? That Pat Monahan?" He chuckled as he confirmed it, and asked that I simply act normal and not make a scene about it.
I, of course, agreed to this, got the item set aside, and came back to the counter.
Because it was called in ahead of time, I needed his signature for the credit processing slip. So, I "informed" Mr. Monahan that "I can't let you leave without getting your autograph."
He just looked at me, so I chuckled and explained why I needed it. He started laughing and offered a fist bump as he laughingly said "That was good. You had me going for a second there."
He then signed the required paperwork, and left, with his order, still chuckling.
I then informed my supervisor of the exchange, just because I knew she would freak out that I didn't call her over while he was present. (I got a playful jab in my shoulder, and told I was a jerk.)
Other Celeb meets - I've met, gotten pictures with, and an autograph from Dennis Anderson, of Grave Digger fame, as well as one of his son's, Weston.
Health - Mostly well now, still have the cough, and do not have my normal stamina, so I tire easily, but am getting there. Follow-up with my regular Dr in the morning, and hoping I get cleared for "regular duty" instead of mandatory rest. (I'm gonna need a paycheck eventually...)
Ken - Does BLI still use the same old chuff sensor of a little magnetic reed switch? My lone steamer from them does, and it blows out if I look at it funny! Poor use of a reed switch if you ask me.
Sports - GO PACK GO!!!! On to meet the 49's next Sunday, and hopefully a trip to Miami after that! (Although I really wanted Vikings to pull the upset, just so season round 3 of the rivalry would send one of the NFC North teams to the big game.)

Glenlivet and milk,(bleeding ulcers-they left with my first wife) was my drink of choice. I used to bend elbows with a old Navy Chief, and he turned me on to a cheap (back then) scotch, Dustin & Duff. It was very good, smooth, most enjoyable.
Today I make mostly triple run, 200 proof, from fruit, silver rum, and on occasion from corn. The triple run I do in a small feldspar quarry down by the shore, as making it can get interesting if there is a leak anywhere in the pot, or thump keg.
I treat it like gas well condensate we used to haul out of Bayou Salle on the barge. When we had both barges loaded with GWC most of the other tow boats would give us a wide berth, and when we locked out of the ICW, the men working the locks made sure there were no lit anything around, and the lock keepers would do a visual of the barges to make sure all the hatches were dogged down before they would let us lock in.
Chris Christoferson's father was a pilot for PAA, Dad was in charge of the overhaul and repair section for PAA in Brownsville, Tx. Chris would chum around with my brothers. Betty Davis would spend some of her summers here on the Island, and more than once she would give me,(And many others as well) rides to, and from the City of Bath. She was very nice to the young people, and the families that lived here. She drove a white Caddy convertable, with a red interior, loved to drive with the top down.
The Chessie Pup, Agatha, at 18 weeks, weighs 47 pounds. She is a brown dynamo, having just three speeds, full ahead, high speed eat, and sleep. She is a birdy girl, fearless, and loves to please. Giving some serious thoughts about getting back into the hunting retriever test game. I was one of the founding members of the National, and established the first HRC club in the North East, Downeast HRC, and helped to establish other clubs in Maine, and worked with North Shore Waterfowlers on Long Island to establish testing down there.
I remember getting lost in the Bronx, at 2AM, asking for directions to the LIE--getting the no-habla routine, as the no -habla started to fill the car with fuel, two of my Chessies left snot and teeth marks on the side window as they thought the no-habla guy was going to steal the car.
As I watched the side window on the wagon bow out, a miracle happened, no-habla guy was hit with the ability to speak the King's English clearly and precisely---"two blocks down take a right" Other memories of New York, going onto the Throgs Neck Bridge observation was made of a vehicle on the edge of the break down lane. Nine days later, headed back North, the same vehicle, minus the engine, tranny, dash, seats, doors, hood, trunk lid, all windows,and tires, was still in the breakdown lane. I also noticed several large brick tennament dwellings in the same proximity. I wonder---------
Appointment on the 29th. of this month to see the Oncologist to have this crap cut/radiated/or poisoned, that I have growing in my neck. Just want to get rid of this thing before it decides to move elsewhere. It is what it is----
Got a recall on the passenger airbag on my Ranger, 2011, so will be dropping it off tomorrow at the Ford dealer. Still getting used to driving small. Quite a change from the Dodge 2500, with the Cummins diesel. The plus side is Barbara can drive it without too much fuss.

I am just back from the local Volkswagen garage to get the disintegrated rubber door seal replaced. Well, they haveto order the part, so I will have to go back there on Friday! The replacement will set me back by $180! Worst of all, I don´t have anybody other than myself to blame for that! The door opening of the little car is too small for a guy my size, so whenever I climb into the car, I squeeze the seal without knowing it. So it just split open last Saturday, without a prior warning. Once I am in the car, I have plenty of room for my 6´4" hulk.
During my time in the classic music industry, I met a number of artists, some of them of world fame. Among them were Luciano Pavarotti, who was an exceptional character as well as an exceptional tenor. I also remember Wynton Marsalis, Barbara Hendricks, Zubin Mehta and Placido Domingo, not to forget Jose Carreras. Some of them were, let´s say, quite challenging personalities I guess people in that industry have to be a little quirky.

herrinchoker, hopefully everything will be taken care of. My BNSF friend had thyroid cancer, got radiation treatments, and it disappeared. Not sure what you have. We will pray for you. Interesting that you spent time on Bayou Salle. That is really out in the wilds.
Not much else going on here. There's still some snow on the ground, but I think it will be gone soon. It's supposed to get into the 30s today. The ice fishermen aren't real happy. We haven't had that good stretch of below freezing weather we need to get good thick ice.
Time to start work on the layout's grain elevator. I usually scratch build everything, but my son-in-law gave me a kit for Christmas. I'll get it together, set it on the layout somewhere, take a picture of it and send it to him.

Jan my mom was involved with Hunt test a good chunk of her life, even after her quintuple bypass she had in her eighties she was right back at it trudging through the fields with her four Goldens.
If she could have died out in the wet and muck working her dogs, she would have been happy. Sounds like you would be a good neighbour having all that antifreeze on hand. Good luck with your upcoming procedure.
Well like a dog sits and stares at a door hoping it will open, I am going to go stare at my Royal Hudson hoping it will fix itself. I will likely start a save my soul thread and see if you guys can nurse me along with the repair. Just how many loose pieces can I send back to Rapido anyway?
Maybe a long walk in the cold first, I am curious to see how the movie people are making out in this cold, of course, those massive lights they have probably make it feel like Hawaii anyway.
Use to stay at the Chateau Lake Louise and ski (mostly downhill) one morning it was -44, much too cold to downhill so we cross country skied across the lake up into that valley where we would stop and eat lunch that we had the hotel prepare. Of course on that particular trip it was so cold the sandwiches were frozen solid when lunchtime rolled around. I wish I was young again, good times.

Good Afternoon,
Expecting about an inch of the white stuff today. No plans on going out even though it is quite warm, -6C.
I did get the car washed yesterday. The lines were long as expected so took about an hour to get through. They do a great job of the exterior and interior so I hardly recognized my car when it was done. Almost forgot it was silver.
Brent, seems we both have Hudson issues. Mine is getting better. For some reason when I clean the drive wheels by holding it over a piece of paper towel soaked in alcohol, it runs better as in smoother, less lurching. I know the wheels are clean so I'm beginning to think that the process puts some resistance on the drive gears that is doing something. I only do this for a minute or so at a time as I don't want to overheat the motor or cause other issues. I am very careful as to how much pressure goes on the drivers. Anyway it is running great in reverse and there has been a 50% improvement going forward. Think I'll try it once more today and then I'll take the boiler off after I hear from Wayne again. I'm close to getting up the nerve and the info needed to remove it.
After doing some research I think it is time for a computer upgrade. I really didn't want to buy another as this one is running great even though it is a 9 year old laptop. The issue is Windows 7 losing support.
All this talk of different bands. I've never heard of the Ramones. I was a big Bealtes fan and then ELO. I had a couple of Beatle LPs on the Parlophone label that my mother picked up in England. They were Revolver and Rubber Soul. Parlophone put 14 songs on these records, not 12 like the Capitol versions here. Also the pressings were of a noticably higher quality, with no hiss, pops and better fidelity. Got a good price for them when I sold off my LPs. I have been listening to some Jack Scott songs on Youtube recently. He passed away last month. Unlike most rockers of his era he wrote all his own music. I saw a video of him performing in 2014 and he still sounded good.

This bridge is huge and she is one of my favorites
