Held a small steam up at my place yesterday with a few friends. Final one of the this year. I have made quite a bit of progress on my railway, and while its outside, its raised up on benchwork(getting to old for ground level running). The village is slowly coming together. Here we see the final train arriving in Frog Town Hollow in a light rain, headlight punching a hole thru the evening gloom. After grabbing a hot cup of coffee, the crew will get their train put to bed in the yard, then back the engine down to the engine house at the end of the house track next to the depot. Engine is a Pearse Locomotive Works 0-4-0 Switcher with a slope back tender. Live steam powered and RC controled. Happy New Year everybody, from my family to yours! Mike and Michele T

Next spring, I will put roofing shingles under this portion of the line and further detail this with ballest/moss growing along the line to give it the run down look I am after. A 3 truck Climax just joined the line and will soon handle the booming logging business

Excellent pictures and excellent work!
I love scale live steam! There is a live steam club with a large outdoor compound just south of us in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Every so often they will allow the public to visit. When our kids were young we used to take them there regularly.
I am particularly intrigued but the guys who scratchbuild their steamers. Modelling at that level just amazes me!

G is an excellent scale to learn to scratch build steam in, you do not need a full machine shop to do so. A couple guys in our local G scale live steam club do build some models. There are also excellent kits one can build that only need some soft soldering, the boiler is ready built already from a company called Roundhouse Engineering. Mike
That was a great photograph Mike. I have never seen G scale live steam in operation. There are year-round garden layouts down here, and I have toured several of them. I wonder why there is no live steam.

My Pearse live steamer ran on gas. Beautifully crafted engines! I wish I still had it, but I had to trade it for food.

Do you mean gas as in gasoline, or a gas like propane or natural gas? The latter two sound more practical, I'd guess, as in a pressurised container, delivery to the firebox would be pretty-well automatic....better than my guess of alcohol, too.
