Hi Mel,
Your reconstructive surgery is not for the faint of heart. Great job.
Tim
Late to the model railroad party but playing catch-up.....
Everything looks really good here as usual.
I always enjoy every modelers work on this thread.
Jesionowski, That scene is beautiful.
Great job everyone!
Thank You
TF
Ed,
My three PRR one's are in the mail, I hope they do the NKP ones (no Dynamic Brake) in the future. I should be able to check them out on the club layout on Saturday.
Rick Jesionowski
Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
Ed: Those Rapido RS-11s sure do look good.
.
Hopefully I will be very happy with my PA2/PB2.

Living the dream.
The delivery van brightened my day yesterday afternoon with the arrival of my second Rapido RS-11.

Perhaps later today I'll get a chance to fire-up the layout and let these boys stretch their legs. These have ESU Loksound 5 decoders in them.
Plenty of time for more photos —
Cheers, Ed
Kind of a slow weekend. I guess New Year's Festivities can take precedence over Weekend Photo Fun sometimes.
Ed: Thank you for the kind comments on my newest STRATTON AND GILLETTE freight car. Hopefully I will be able to reconstruct my photo diorama in a week or two and get some pictures of it with some "standard" SGRR boxcars.
Peter: Love the Baby New Year riding on the switcher engine. I can't believe it is 2020 already (soon).
Michael: I enlarged your picture for a better view. That tank car sure looks realistic with the weathering you applied. Nice job.
Hopefully we will see more Weekend Photo Fun action tomorrow.
I got a few of these Athearn 19k tank cars. They are clay slurry cars, but I will be using them for the Coors wort beer train that travels between Golden and Memphis, TN.
I just weathered one up.

Rick, Thanks for opening the last edition of WPF for 2019. The shadows cast by the Plano walkways really add interest to your ALNX covered hopper.
Time again for a new crew to come aboard.
Thanks to all the contributors and viewers, Happy New Year, Peter
Excellent stuff here, folks!
Thanks for kicking things off, Rick. Those Plano etched walkways are beautiful They really make for a museum quality model.
Thos Es are real beasts, Mel. An engineering marvel as well. Your persistance paid off
I have a similar SD-70, Allan. I got it because I liked the neat colors, and, well it was a TrainWorld closeout some years ago Always an attractive locomotive.
I never tire of seeing all the great rolling stock of the S & G, Kevin. You are very clever and resourceful when it comes to rolling stock.
Years ago I spent some time on the old New Haven (well, it was already Penn Central, but there was still lots of N-H stuff still around) so I saw lots of the stainless-sheathed passenger cars built to their specs by Pullman Standard in Worcester, Mass.
With Rapido already making the 8600 coaches and parlor cars, now the diners are here I thought I'd try to make a representation of the Merchants Limited to run behind the upcoming EP-5s.
I treated myself to a few "budget-line" Soho brass cars:

The N-H had two of these "Hill" series observation cars. A few years after delivery they hung a big diaphragm on the rounded end but I'm going to skip that modification.
One thing I do want to get rid of are the stock trucks. They are pretty poor, both in looks and operation. Fortunately, Rapido offers some very nice looking and good rolling 41-BNO-11 trucks (left):

The bolsters don't work with the Soho mounting so I came up with a plan to fit a center sill to these cars.
N-H_Hill-obs-centersill by Edmund, on Flickr
3/16 Evergreen square tubing, two lengths of channel laminated to each side and a base plate of .040" styrene makes up a perfect center sill and the height is near-perfect for the truck bolster and coupler height.

I like it when a plan comes together. I have some nice generators to replace the crude ones on the car, too.

If Rapido continues with their sharp-looking cars I'll just replace these as they become available.
Lots more weekend ahead... Let's see More Photos!!
Rick: Thank you for starting us out this week. That is an awesome model if the WESTERN MARYLAND boxcar. It really looks incredible.
Mel: Those Mabuchi Motors look promising. I have 12 of them now for new projects. I don't plan to try anything back-to-back though.
Allan: That is a nice picture of a great gift.
I finished a new style STRATTON AND GILLETTE freight car this week. This is a Pullman Standard PS-1 with Plug Doors. Rick sent me the plug door pieces from his scrap box that made this car possible.
I rarely post pictures of the SGRR cars I finish in WPF. How many times do you all want to see the same paint scheme on another 40 foot boxcar over and over again?
This one is unique. Unlike most SGRR boxcars, it is not lettered in yellow, but white. Also, the SGRR herald is ribald in black and white. Usually the SGRR herald is multi-colored.
This is a Kadee kit that I fitted the plug door into.
Keep the photos coming... I love Weekend Photo Fun!
Rick - Thanks for starting off WPF. Great cars as usual.
Mel - Great job on the SP E7s. They should be able to pull a ton.
Nothing new on the BRVRR. Lots to do under the layout. Christmas was pretty good though: My present from my wife.
One day soon I'll get the whole train on the layout.
Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. Thanks to you WPF is always the best thread of the week.
Remember its your railroad

Rick
Great pictures, like dem cows!!
Good morning from mostly sunny and mild Northeast Ohio!
Managed to get some modeling done this week!
First is another IMRC Canadian Grain Hopper Kit, replaced the plastic roofwalk with a Plano one for the car, makes a great difference in how the car looks. Painted the car using Scalecoat II Wabash Blue paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Like the Canadian Government the prairie provinces also contributed cars as replacements for the worn out 40' boxcars originally used in transporting grain which the railroads would not replace as the grain hauling rates were too low to cover the cost of new cars and the farmers would not allow higher rates.
Next is an Atlas ACF 60' Double Door Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Silver paints then lettered with Microscale Decals. The WM had some ACF cars with 10' doors for paper service, but these cars were in the Auto Parts service for GM with a return to Pontiac MI where there were several plants that needed these types of cars for the heavy parts like engines, transmissions and differentials.
An old picture of mine showing the Bowser GMDD SD40-2's with a grain train in the Rockies, notice another Alberta car in the train.
Thanks for looking!
