Walthers 130' Turntable Question
Posted by Trainzman2435 on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 2:43 PM

Hello all, i am planning a locomotive service facility with turntable on my N scale layout and need a little input. From what i can see the Walthers motorized 130' turntable looks to be about the nicest but wow is it pricy. My question is: Is the Walthers turntable the nicest avaliable and also, what is a fair price to pay for one? I have seen them on Ebay from $280's up to $310. Is this a normal price or is there any place online other than Ebay that might have a better deal? Thanks for your input everyone!

Good luck and I hope you can get that roundhouse as well.

there have been many versions of turntables from walthers and prices reflect their quality

The early ones had no indexing, just a motor that you controlled the polarity to move the turntable clockwise or counter-clockwise.   They also needed to be assembled and had clearance problems.

the latest models are assembled, use a motor built into the bridge, an encoder for precise positioning and an indexing controller.    The N-gauge 130' model 933-2618 is this type.

when you see one for less on ebay, check the model #.

When you buy one online make sure you get the latest p/n as currently listed in the Walther's catalogue.  For HO there are 3 generations of 130' TTs and Walther's only carries parts (some) for the latest.  The first two generations worked but had indexing problems...and there are no replacement controllers (which are the most fail prone component).
