Great looking models guys! I may be selling off my HO collection here soon as its becoming hard for me to see it and enjoy them running on my small layout. Keep the pics coming, really enjoying others models! Mike the Aspie
Silly NT's, I have Asperger's Syndrome
This Pacific Fast Mail brass B&M B15 Mogul came to me in bad shape. Catwalks were falling off, frame was coming apart, and the motor could barely mek it move, let along pull cars, and it was running hot to the touch. I had to go one Ebay to find a decent 150 watt soldering iron. The hardware stores only carry soldering guns and dinky 30 watt irons intended for PC board work. The big iron resoldered all the loose brass stuff. I replaced the open frame motor Alnico magnet with a stack of Neodynium super magnets, that fixed the overheating and lack of power problem.
And here she is on the point of a typical B&M commuter train. I clearly remember going down the the Wayland station to pick up Father coming home from work riding just such a train. Although Father's commuter train was made up of 60 foot coaches where as these are only 48 footers.

I am not a steam modeler but here are a few of my non-engine brass cars:
Rio Grande. The Action Road - Focus 1977-1983
My first brass locomotive was this Samhongsa model of a B&M B-15. It didn't run well at all when I first got it, but I remotored it with a can motor, then changed/added a few details and gave it the paint job shown...
Later, I gave it some more cosmetic modifications...
...and it's a good runner and decent puller, given its diminutive size. Ultimately, a good bargain for ninety bucks.
This one, a CNR H-6 10 Wheeler from Samhongsa, was another relative bargain, simply because it didn't have its original box...
I stripped and repainted it, modifying it slightly to match a photo of its prototype.
This one I got from a friend, basically free, in exchange for some work I had done for him on some other locomotives. I had done the work gratis, and wasn't expecting anything in return...
He thought it to be underpowered, but after installing some new magnets in the open frame motor and adding some weight, I had it handling 19 cars, and offered it back to him...he declined.
Another CNR 10 Wheeler, bought for a good price at an estate sale, this one needs some modifications to the locomotive in order to match photos of its prototype...
...but the tender's body is totally incorrect. I'll scratchbuild a new body in styrene, then mount it on the brass chassis.
This CNR Mogul, from the same estate sale, has been modified to match a particular CNR Mogul which I, as a child, recall seeing. Like the 10 Wheeler shown above, its tender is incorrect for that particular locomotive. I'll build an appropriate stand-in using styrene, and mount it on the original brass chassis...
The Mogul shown above was a gift from another friend, for whom I've done lots of work over the last 40 years-or-so. He's always been very generous, and as I friend, I've not ever billed him, as he's given me so many opportunities to learn new techniques on his considerable collection of brass.

My one and only brass engine, a 1974 bought HOn3 Westside D&RGW T-12 4-6-0. Unfortunately, when I painted and lettered the loco, Internet was still nearly two decades away, so the number is incorrect.
There is one resurrected loco currently undergoing test runs at the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
Happy times!

I have 2 brass loco's on my On3 layout(the rest are hybrids).
480 and 473 were made by Samhongsa. Both got new motors,LED lighting, real glass windows and number boards, sound and keep-alives.Luckily,both ran very smoothly,so I didn't have to mess with the drive train.
More Brass!

My one and only piece of brass I picked up for $35.00. Thought it was a good deal so grabbed it. Great Northern did run into Vancouver so it will get on the layout someday.
Whoops, I almost forgot I also have an O scale brass caboose that was bought for 25 cents at a flea market. It was/is covered in a water colour rainbow paint job...Someday....

As far as unique goes, I'll submit my PRR DD1 electric.

It is a nice companion to the Broadway Limited P5a.

It is a 1975-vintage Alco model. Both the open-frame motors run quietly and are smooth and powerful, lucky break. I put a decoder in each half and a jumper wire to aid in track pickup.
I'm test-fitting the keep alive decoders here:

This is how they looked before I started.

I see you have a set of the Bachmann test rollers, Mike I have a couple sets myself and they are invaluable for locomotive diagnostic work:

Thank you, Ed
Time for some brass show and tell for Sunday. Here is my small collection, all get used on my layout and will get painted here soon. I will list them with Importer/Builder imformation for the newbie that might be looking for models to buy online.
First up is my PFM/United 2 truck Shay. Repowerd with a Canon CN22 can motor, smooth and quiet, very powerful and much more durable over the plastic models.
Here is a pic of the can motoring process. even without a rear support bearing, I have no issues with the the worm staying meshed correctly, even under heavy load. The worm shaft(2.4mm) and motor shaft(2.0mm) are butted together with rubber tube coupler.
Then we have an Overland Models/Rok-Am C&O G9 2-8-0 that I reworked into Logansport & Eel River No1. Which was originally BC&G #13. She ran in excursion service just north of where I live in Indiana back in the 1980's. She was done up in sort of a PRR H class look while on the L&ER.
Here is my caboose, an Overland/Ajin New Haven NE6 model, close enough to a NE5 and will be in simplified CGW paint soon.
This is my newest model, an Oriental Limited/Samhongsa EMD F3, will be in simplified CGW colors. Needs some gears in the trucks before she see's layout duty.
