Just a couple of weeks ago, I watched an episode of NOVA, on my local PBS channel, and they talked about how vulnerable the city is to rising sea levels.

Hence the seawall the Army is building on Staten Island.  The thing that stopped my house from being flooded was the railroad.

Yes.  They were testing an installatiion of watertight doors.

 

They held for four hours which would get yhem trhough a high tide during flood conditions.
