Show Us An Ad For Your Favourite Railroad
Posted by BATMAN on Thursday, October 31, 2019 2:52 PM

There are some really creative ads for railroads so how about showing us some of your favourites. You-Tube is full of them. I remember this one. There are some really old ones out there.

I haven't seen any commercials from the big RRs for quite a while, the ones were the CSX ads.

My favorite railroad is the Swiss Rhaetian Railway, a network of narrow gauge lines in the Grison Mountains in easter Switzerland. The Rhaetian Railway runs two name trains of world fame - the Glacier Express, connecting St. Moritz and Zermatt, and the Bernina Express, connecting St. Moritz and Tirano/Italy, via the Bernina Pass.

Right from the beginning, the Rhaetian Railway was an important factor to develop tourism in that rather remote part of Switzerland, so there are quite a number of posters issued throughout the over 125 years they are in business.

Just two as example:

And a more modern one:

Happy times!

Well, my favorite railroad never had the money, size, or technology to make TV commercials, but my fave current is the CP, and I think this ad is cool.

BNSF seems to run a few on PBS.

Almost nothing available for EJ&E in a resolution worth using.  Most are like this:

Standard Oil did sing EJ&E's praises at one point...
