Is the video the retirement of a passenger train? 

Here in the US, passenger rail travel has been in a steady decline for 70 years.  High speed rail is limited Washington Boston corridor and isn't the high speed of other countries.  We recently had a thread on the end of dining service on Amtrak.

The last train of the driver before retirement was a passenger train. On arrival they were a little surprised! In France it is a tradition.

The small number of passenger trains is related to US size and travel patterns.

In France, Spain and many European countries, with the train you can go everywhere. For example on the line where I work (170 km long), it is a regional line and every day it circulates 44 passenger trains and 2 freight trains. In Europe passenger trains are preferred on freight trains.

What I like about trains in the US is the variety of locomotives and wagons, the lenght of trains, the large number of companies and the landscapes crossed.

Today here is a video on a model railway exhibition in the north of France. "Trainsmania" is a biggest exhibition of the country.

This is the last train of a driver before retirement. It's a passenger train and they are obviously a bit surprised. In France it is a tradition for the workers of the Railways. I know that in the US passenger trains are few but the country is very large compared to France or Spain. In the USA, priority is given to freight, in Europe the priority goes to the passengers. For example the line where I work, (170 km long) is a regional line. By day, it circulates 44 passenger trains and 2 freight trains. I introduce myself, my name is Stéphane (Steven), I live in the south of France near the Spanish border. I work in the French railways (SNCF) but I am passionate about the Spanish railways (RENFE)...... My origins!

I am also passionate about model railroad.

I created a moment ago a Youtube channel on my layout and also on the SNCF and RENFE.

I am fascinated by the American railroad and I was able to buy a Union Pacific Locomotive and four wagons during a trip to New-York two years ago.
