On my android Galaxy S4 tablet, I use the web site, one because I am use to it, two because I can't get the MR mobile app to work at all........

The web site works perfectly on the S4......but I would rather be home in front of a screen big enough to see and a keyboard big enough to type on......

Zinio is hard to use? You just go to Library and it shows all your purchased items, organized however you pick, typically by title, so all the MRs show up in one group, Classic Trains in another, etc.

If you mean the archive app, that IS useless unless you are only looking for recent issues. Trying to scroll back to an issue from the 50's or 60's is an exercise in frustration, and whatever genius thought that was a good user interface for a magazine with 85+ years of history is I hope no longer employed as a UI designer for the company that developed that app.

Thanks to all for the replies.  My old iPad Air 2 only has 16GB!!!!  Maybe it's time for an upgrade.  I did go in and delete a few apps that are rarely used and I made sure to force-close a bunch of the other apps.  This has seemed to help at least temporarily.

I use an older iPad and don't have any problems using ZINIO.  If I want to use the archives for older issues, I use the web version in Safari.  The MR archives app is the worst designed app I have ever seen.

I don;t think each issue is anywhere near 1GB. The other one with more pages and higher res images isn;t even 1GB.

I have not had an issue yet, but I have a newer iPad Pro (about 2 years old now) since I broke my old 4th gen iPad (the first one with the lightning connectooor) when I fell asleep reading on the patio. It was slow but still fine for reading, I'd still be using it if the screen wasn't in a million bits of glass.

Any time I've had a blank page, it's because the connection timed out while downloading - try removing the issue and downloading it again. Or try the Zinio app instead of the MR app. Zinio is the official delivery platform for Kalbach, that the MR issues HAPPEN to also show up in the MR Archive app is just a bonus. I'm also on iOS 12.something, I haven't installed 13 on my phone or tablet yet.

While the issue won't fill up 1GB, being that low may cause issues with other things, like OS updates. Surely there is stuff you cna remoove - old issues you've finished reading, apps yoou don't use, cached data for apps, etc. My iPad has 256GB but I'm using less than 25GB.

Not had that issue here. If things are all up to date, I would suspect that the lack of headroom for new files may be the culprit. It wouldn't surprise me for an issue of the mag to be around 1 GB, which is why it'll struggle if that's all the space you have available.

Recent Problem with Digital Issues of MR on iPad

I'm a big fan of the digital issues of MR and Trains.  I've been reading them for several years on my iPad.  I like being able to take multiple issues with me and always knowing where to find them.

In the last couple of months, I've started to have a problem where the issue shows up as a blank page.  It still shows up in my dowloads, but when I click on it, the page is blank.  To get it to work, the only thing I can do is to re-download the issue.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Ideas on how to fix it?

I'm using an iPad Air 2 with IOS 12.3.1.  To make sure I had the latest version of the MR App, I deleted it and reinstalled it from the App Store.  I will admit that my iPad is getting full, but I still have nearly 1 GB available.

Thanks.  --MARK
