Here's one just for fun. Awhile back another forum member asked the question "How many F-units do you have?", so I thought it might be interesting to see if collecting EMD GP and SD series locomotives is as common a virus as the F-unit bug. So, how many?
My fleet currently consists of:
One GP38, Santa Fe. (Silver and red War Bonnet)
One GP40, Army.
One SD24, Union Pacific.
One SDP40, Burlington Northern.
One SD40-2, Montana RailLink.
One SD45, Burlington.
For a grand total of two and four, respectively.
Not very impressive right now, but I intend to add more in the future.
Yup, I've had that virus as well, especially when P2K was putting out their ATSF and IC GP7s and 9s. I bought one of each........14 total as I recall.
But reality set in after a few years.....can't run all of them on the layout, and they will likely never get used. So I kept two ATSF GP7s and two GP9s and run them together in consist. The rest of the locos were sold on Ebay.
I also did similar with the BLI ATSF issues as well...........
ENJOY !

Wow! That's quite impressive. Your combined GP and SD fleet is more than my entire locomotive roster in all scales by about 12 locomotives!
I currently have an eclectic mix of GPs.

I've got 2 powered GP9s, one powered GP9m, and one dummy GP9. All are Milwaukee. Somewhere packed away I have an SD9, also Milwaukee, but it has no decoder and can't make it around all my curves.
The dummy GP9 is an old Athearn blue box that used to have rubber band drive, which didn't work, so I gutted it and made it a sound dummy.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
All except one (EMD Demonstrator) are UP. All with LokSound Select decoders excepting the BLIs). The list is from memory but surely close.
- one GP9 (Genesis)
- one GP30 (LL P2K)
- EDIT: one GP35 (Kato)
- two SD7 (BLI & LL P2K)
- two SD40-2 (BLI & LL P2K)
- one SD50 (LL P2K)
- one SD60 (LL P2K)
- EDIT: one SD70M (Genesis; EMD Demonstrator)

Currently operational, I have 4 Atlas GP-7s (one St.Paul Route, one Soo Line, 2 EMD demonstrators) and one Bachmann/Spectrum GP-30 (GN). For SDs, I have two Life-Like Proto SD-9s (DMIR and BN), a Kato and an Athearn SD-38 (both DMIR), an Athearn Genesis SD-45 (GN "Hustle Muscle"), a LL/Proto SD-60 (Oakway), and a Kato SD-70 (BN).
I also have a couple older LL/Proto GP-9s in Rock Island paint that need some work (new gears particularly) to get back online.
I have too many to count but i do know i have more SD's than GP's.

Here is my Loco list to date, all in the paint & work shops being CSS-ized
The Athearn B/B has a Dyna-brake which I was intending to modify/replace, but I have just noticed that NICTD have aquired a GP38-2 Dyna-fitted, No.1001 - so I may have a go at this instead.
The two SW15's are in the "it's my railroad" category.
Not sure if Intermountain have released their 'Iowa Interstate SD38-2 No.154 yet, but that is on my must have list too. Lazers

Some who are relatively new to the hobby, it would seem like a lot. Some who have been in the hobby for a long time, in some cases, have accumulated hundreds of engines over the years. I've been in the hobby since my teens but didn't start to build a roster of HO engines until the mid-80's, after flirting with N scale for a few years.
Roster in 2007:
(lined through were sold) There have been topics in the past where members have posted their engine rosters.

Since 2007 have added a bunch of Athearn tunnel motors, Atlas and Genesis GP40-2's and a few others, and sold a few as well.
Here are 14 of my total 19 D&RGW tunnel motors before I sold off the 1985 PTC versions and replaced a few with ScaleTrains versions.
Ed,I like the 7105 altough such a unit on the prototype would make a die hard P company man cry.
Disclaimer - I am a trainaholic. My last EBay purchase was last week for 2 Atlas GP38 engines.
That being said, here is a list of my Geep engines in no certain order with roads covering PC, CR, CSX, LIRR, NH, and a couple other western roads as well as my private railroads:
GP40-2 - 11
GP38-2 - 26
GP39-2 - 1
GP40- 9
GP35 - 6
GP15-1 - 4
GP38 - 7
GP60 - 2
GP30 - 1
GP50 - 1
I haven't counted my SD units, and quite honestly, afraid to see how many of those I own..

There are some pretty impressive numbers so far. It looks like the geep bug is particularly strong. Ed, I like your pictures, there's alot of fine looking locomotives to admire there.
