Quincy47, I have felt your disapointment, three times with the same type of engine, three times till it was right, and I really can't say ''I trust that Loco.'' I'm just waiting for number 4 to go up in smoke/flames. I know I will not be in a hurry to buy another one like it.

But it was not your Walthers brand and model. It's just bad electrical components that find there way into everybodys products. It's good that it is being taken care of by Walthers.

I really hate to trouble shoot new items in fear of ''voiding the warranty''...and you should not have to trouble shoot new items anway.

Hi Quincy47,

Very disappointing indeed! Maybe it's just my perception, but that sort of thing seems to be increasing in frequency. Rapido is one example. Their products are beautiful, but I know of five people who have a total of nine new Rapido releases who have experienced locomotive failure with all of them within a couple hours or less of putting them on the tracks. I know that Rapido will make things right, but even if I could afford Rapido engines, I doubt that I would spend the money. My InterMountains and P2K engines run just fine and always have. If I want more lights and details I will install them myself.

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

After waiting for months (so long I had forgotten I ordered it ) my SW1200 finally arrived. Imagine my disappointment when I placed it on the track and nothing happened.

I did all the usual checks and still nothing. After a call to Walthers and my hobby dealer the only solution was to send me a replacement. It was good customer service and I appreciated it.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem with that particular model
