Hello, I am painting the metal parts that came with my Athearn Genisis SD70M and SD70I SF and BNSF locos.
What I'm stuck on, is the color. Should I be painting these Sante Fe Yellow or should it be high visability yellow?
If it is the Sante Fe Yellow, I'll be using the Floquil enamel. If high visability, I'll use Testors' Racing Finish Bright Yellow, unless another color is recommended.

This is a no brainer: They only ever used Santa Fe yellow. Often the striping is in the various decal sets.
Caveat: That is NOT Santa Fe Cat Whisker yellow--that was an earlier shade of light yellow used on the early blue and yellow freight F units during the 1940's.
Otherwise, the yellow would be regular Santa Fe Yellow.
When the red and silver warbonnet paint scheme was revived for high speed freight service, on the last and newest motive power, it was the same yellow used on the blue and yellow warbonnet freight engines from 1972 through 1989. It does fade HORRIBLY in the desert sun, so there are many different shades in real life.
Even after BNSF, the Topeka shops were doing spot repaints, partial repaints and sometimes even full repaints of the blue and yellow freight warbonnet up to and beyond 2000, because they still had yellow paint on hand. There are many photos of Santa Fe blue and yellow SD40-2's even up into the 2000's in freshly restored Blue and Yellow freight warbonnet. Topeka, KS, took great pride in the former Santa Fe units.
