I believe the frame of the T-2 is longer than the -2.

Per SD40-2 wiki  - length 68 ft 10 in

Per SD40T-2 wiki - length 70 ft 8 in

I checked other sources and it appears to be confirmed. Sorry.

I imagine if you want a blue box Athearn SD40T-2, they can be had inexpensively if cost is a factor.

Frame for athearn SD40T-2

Can anyone tell me if the chassis on the Athearn sd40-2 is the same as on the SD40T-2? I have a SD40-2 for a road I am not interested in and wanted to change the shell to a D&RGW one. But the D&RGW only had the SD40T-2's.
