Thank you all for your replies. Greatly appreciated.
I just bought one of these at a swap-meet about two weeks ago. The overall wheel base is 13 scale feet on the nose. The driver spacing is 2 1/2 scale feet between the first and second set of drivers, (not counting the flanges) the spacing between the second and third set of drivers is 1 1/2 scale feet. (Once again, not counting the flanges. Mine has the "pizza cutter" flanges, if it makes any difference.) Hope this helps.
Maybe this helps to determine the wheelbase:

Wow, seem to be pretty rare. We had lots of AHM/Rivarossi stuff in the early 70's, but never that one.
This might help - someone selling one on eBay posted a shot with a ruler

Looks like just under 1 1/2" center to center wheelbase from the front to rear driver.

I don't own one, but I can bump this post back up in the list... hopefully someone will reply.
Does anyone have the referenced 1970s era locomotive and a HO-scale ruler on hand? Looking for the total wheel base and driver spacing measurements in scale feet & inches. Thank you in advance for any feedback.
