Imgur Crash
Posted by Track fiddler on Monday, June 17, 2019 11:35 AM

I have not been able to post a picture on Imgur for over a week.  Those of you who know me, know that I post pictures quite frequently.

When I try to post a picture all I get is a red wall that says "Zoinks you have taken a wrong turn somewhere".  It has 5 pictures hanging on the wall with a giraffe in the middle and freaky cats.

I have read testimonials from other people having the same problem.  One of the people stated that Imgur hosts Reddit for picture posting and the site has become over saturated.  Although posting a picture may work for some, it does not work for many.

I am not a paying customer but what has always worked for me for free, does not work anymore.  The last time I tried to post a picture was after Kevin's post on Jerrell's Show Me Something which did not work either.

I wonder if any others here are having the same problem.

When the infamous Photobucket thing happened I tried several sights and did a lot of experimenting.  I ended up using my Google Blog as my picture host.  It has worked perfect every time and it’s easy to post to the Forum too.

I just set up a Page as Host and do it to it.  The one big surprise was that unlike Photobucket I can remove the pictures from my Blog after I have linked them to the Forum and the pictures stay on the Forum.  The only pictures I keep on my “Host Page” are the ones I might reuse down the road.

Super quick and easy!

When Photo Bucket locked my photos, I removed them all. I have them on an external drive. Left PB. Never again.

Once bit, twice shy. Never do this again. I will keep photos to myself from now on.

"Zoinks you have taken a wrong turn somewhere".

.

I was having the exact same problem this weekend.

.

I logged out and back in again, and everything worked fine afterwards.

.

I hope your solution is just as simple.

Hi TF! Sorry to hear of your troubles.

I have not had any problems uploading images to IMGUR nor posting images to other forums. My recent uploads and posting were this weekend (see Weekend Photo Fun) and 2 other forums.

I know this may be basic and cliche, but have you cleared your browsing history and cookies? Tried restarting your computer?

Oh, I'm not a paying customer either.

My link that used to all my albums has not worked in some time.

Having seen your post, I went to Imgur.com.  I saw my user name, as if I was signed in and clicked on images and got the same error screen as you.

I then clicked on Posts.  There were other pictures than mine, but one of mine was there and when I clicked on it, there was an option to sign in.  Once I signed in, it is working normally and I cannot reproduce the error by signing out or out and in.  It happened in Chrome but not Firefox.

Well, thanks all for the help and suggestions.

Kevin,  I tried what you said first,  unfortunately it didn't seem to work for me.  Sometimes phones work differently than home-based computers though.

Henry,  I tried what you said after I tried everything else and your idea seemed to work.  After I did what you said my pictures came back up on my desktop mode in my phone.

I just got back from running errands,  gonna grab something to eat,  then come back and give it a test in a little bit here.

Thanks all.     TF

Sorry to read of the problems that you're having. I'm posting a photo of one of my bus models as a test. So far, the site has been working for me:

After I did what you said my pictures came back up on my desktop mode in my phone.

I have an Iphone and a Kindle Fire.  They are vastly inferior to my laptop for the Internet, whether it's screen size or what you can actually see on any given website that has a "mobile" alternative.

Well I guess the test worked.  Imgur is up and running for me again.

This isn't the first time I came across a snag since I've had this photo host, just the first time I couldn't figure things out on my own.

That's the nice thing about the Forum here.  There's always another Member that knows something that you don't and will help a brother out.

Thanks Guys.

TF

PS

Mel   I'm going to look into that Google Blog you mentioned.  I have had some snags with Imgur.

Rich   I have stored all my pictures elsewhere other than photo hosts sites as well,  good idea.

Terry   I went and cleared my browsing history and cookies, I forgot about that stuff.  No wonder my phone has been slow.

Antonio   Nice bus!

Henry   Your solution was greatly appreciated.

This problem TF and I had last weekend sounds like it is not widespread and was easily fixed.

.

That is a relief.

Must be.  I wouldn't have even known there was an alleged problem if there wasn't a topic started here.  More often than not, when someone does post a computer related problem here (usually a fear of a virus or malware), it seems to be isolated to them or their computer much of the time.
