Hi All I am wondering where I can import Allen Gibson wheels to the United States of America, I am curious because I would like to get some for a Hornby Thomas (re-profiling the wheels) and some for a couple Sparkshot Custom Creation Kits, it would be appriciated!Wink

What would a middleman do for you, other than increase the price?

Hi,

We import things from the UK all the time. For small stuff, best has been to specify postal shipment as the USPS in my experience has done a great and seamless job once the stuff gets here. Using commercial shippers can be fraught once all the security agencies and customs people get involved. For large items we use DHL as they are usually hassle free but much more expensive than post.

I would Google and E-mail Sparkshot direct as suggested above. If they have a secure credit card payment method, I frequently use that. Bank (wire) transfers are also work but again are expensive. I would never send a check or money order as you then have no recourse if it all goes pear shaped.

If you don't regularly phone overseas, the numbers above won't work as printed. An actual number needs the country code and would look like:

011 441 617 858 208  in my experience. Hope that helps (and works). J.R.

I've never had a problem importing by mail direct to me with stuff from the UK or any other country. It almost always just shows up in the mailbox without further ado. Most model RR stuff is too inconsequential for  Customs or anyone else to get involved.
