Rapido's web site:

https://www.rapidotrains.com/products/ho-scale/ho-scale/ho-scale-52-6-mill-gondola-union-carbide

A search of RRpictureArchives does show a few Uinon Carbide cars, but not this gondola.

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/srchThumbs.aspx?srch=union+carbide&search=Search

And I didn't find anything on a Google search, except for the Rapido model.

I found this when I looked up the reporting marks of the car, NCCX:

http://www.nakina.net/private/nchx.html

I don't think that site offers pictures.

The Official Railway Equipment Register has a paragraph on the NCCX, the National Carbon Co., but I don't see a picture, and it talks about tank cars, and no mention of a gondola.

https://books.google.com/books?id=Wgs5AQAAMAAJ&pg=RA1-PA968&lpg=RA1-PA968&dq=NCCX+gondola+101&source=bl&ots=NGownAuqHK&sig=ACfU3U2HiZYrfhnCdori1esuc_OTfWp7Cg&hl=en&sa=X&

Good luck.

Mike.

EDIT:  Just had a thought, Jason and crew are really good about answering questions, etc., maybe email them and ask about the prototype.

I've seen a B&W photo of the car, but do not have copyright permission to share it here.

Note that the two NCCX cars (100-101) are classed as "LG" and are outfitted to carry 12 removable containers (like the old bulk containers that Walthers used to sell but are discontinued) that would be considered a permanent part of the car. It appears these two cars were converted by National Steel Car in 1965.

This link goes to a 1915 edition - not too useful for cars that were converted in 1965.

The nakina.net link contains data compiled from multiple years Official Railway Equipment Registers and shows the NCCX roster and service dates.

Note in addition to the two NCCX gondolas leased from North American, Union Carbide had a pair of "LF" flatcars equipped with containers as well listed under their own UCCX marks, although this reference appears to be all the currently available information on those cars.

http://nakina.net/private/uccx.html

Presumably these would be in the same or similar service.

Chris, from what you've seen, even though it's in black and white, do you think the Rapido car is close?

Bang on - other than the LCL bulk containers you'd have to add.
