I have been on the prodigy advance since it started shipping. Before that I used the regular prodigy system. I model in HO scale but I would be surprised if scale made any difference with decoders. I have TCS, Digitrax, NCE, and Atlas decoders, and a broadway limited engine. In one switcher I have a TCS M-1 decoder which is an N scale decoder. They all work just fine on the Prodigy Advance. Never had a problem. Either with programming or running them.

With my BLI engine, once I went to the advance system I can now play all the sounds. So, if you go on to sound installations, the advance can control all the latest sound features.

N scale decoder recommendations for Prodigy Advance

I know with NMRA compliance all decoders and control systems are supposed to work together. I also know that some work together better than others. So, help a DCC newbie out. I am getting ready to install the Prodigy Advance system I got for Christmas, but I need to know which decoders are the best choice to fit my present N scale locomotives and work well with this system. Also, I will be buying several new locomotives in the near future and hope to get them decoder equipped. Are there certain decoders I should look for in those or certain decoders I should avoid? Experienced, knoledgable advice willbe GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks.
