I just finished reading the petroleum section of
The Model Railroader's Guide to Industries Along the Tracks
by Jeff Wilson. Overall, it is good. However, I would like to point some things out.
There was one serious omission in it. There was no mention of petroleum coke. It is common for this to be shipped in hopper cars from the refinery. Therefore I think it should have been included. Also, the only mention of pressure cars is the ICC/DOT105. When I see LPG, Gasoline, Liquid Hydrocarbon not otherwise specified, Pentane, or Butadiene shipped in pressure tankcars, it is usually DOT 112J340W or DOT 112J400W. One more thing, the steam decreased the viscosity.
From what I have read and skimmed through so far, it appears that this is a good book for the modeler.
