Just proves that kids still love trains and that they, like the ones that came before them, want to model what they see every day. Not steam or first gen diesels. Its modern high horsepower diesels and for some, modern day light rail, which for the most part is being totally ignoired by most every manufacture. Kato in N scale is the exception. Bowers traction items, which have sold really well, it mostly older style stuff, now the newer articulated light rail cars. Glad to hear that your youngest son is intersested in trains. Mike
Silly NT's, I have Asperger's Syndrome
To each his own, lol.
I was bugging a certain HO manufacturer to produce the C-430, for much of my life my personal favorite engine, about 30 years ago. Eventually, they did make it.
I've also owned the brass Overland Models ones...
Now with my youngest son getting interested in trains, and wanting what he sees everyday, generally speaking, I'm finally "going modern".
Different seasons of life...

My factory painted C430 came in today's mail, joining her unpainted sister(3006) on my NYS&W Utica branch. They amazingly run well together considering the unpainted unit is the early run with the "tank drive" system. Now to start saving back up to get new track and begin on scenery. The Centuries look much better on my small layout over the long SD70 that I got recently. Its up for sale elsewhere. Once I get it sold, those funds will cover the Kato Unitrack I plan to use.
