If I can get over this hurdle I'd like to be able to mark up photos and screen captures with stuff like your snazzy pink arrow (a left-over from Valentine's Day? ).

Hi, John

I know some email systems use "plain text" and you have to choose "rich text" in order to get all the indents, page breaks and bullet points in place. Maybe your Juno preferences are set for plain text?

I manage to fumble through Photoshop Elements enough to get the basics done. I can do a screen capture, that saves it in the clipboard, then paste it into the Elements workspace. Do a little cropping and sharpening then I can draw or add text to the image.

I chose "hot pink" to get attention and to compliment Wayne's cherry-red text.  Guess it worked Wink

     Cheers, Ed

It happened to me a while back. I would type, carefully spacing the paragraphs for easy comprehension. Everything looked fine but after I clicked send, all the spacing commands were gone and it looked like one run-on sentence.

. . . . . . . .

I edited my brief profile and then clicked "SAVE CHANGES". Seems to have worked OK. I'm using Chrome at the moment.

Cheers, Ed

Thanks, guys.

Ed - what you note above at the beginning of your post is exactly what has always happened to me.  In PMs I've also tried what JaBear does from NZ, dummy it up in Word and then copy and paste into thye message composition box.  I only here it laughing once I send and discover that all my formatting has been discarded.

Perhaps the issue is indeed on my box (I have noted some major reply irregularities using the family's Juno email account).  I may try something by accessing the forum through Chrome.

Gidday John, I don’t have problems with paragraphs when sending PMs, but when it comes to posting on the Forum…

I compose all my posts on Word, make sure what I say makes sense (???), get the line spacing, paragraphs, and spelling correct, though I do spell New Zealand English, then copy and paste.

Everything looks great until I press submit, then it all goes pear shaped! So, I have to then edit my post, redoing the paragraphs.

Yeah, it is frustrating but I consider a very small price to pay to be able to participate in a Forum with a lot of Good and Knowledgeable FFolkes.

Cheers, the Bear.Smile

You're right about the spell checker, Ed, although it doesn't speak "Canadian" all that well.

You're right, Wayne. I just typed centre and got red-lined.

Of course, you can "right-click" the word and select "Add to dictionary" and spell cheque will remember!

Should work on Firefox as it does in Chrome. Some spell checkers will allow you to select "Language > English > Canadian" but I didn't get that option in M-R.

Good Luck, Ed

I also notice that it gives us the choice of font size and colors for the text, too....surprisingly, the latter look quite similar to Canadian colours - who'da thunk it?  Smile, Wink & Grin

If it makes any difference, I'm using Firefox on a Mac.

I just sent some PMs last night and everything worked fine.

Maybe the IT people are behind the scenes tweaking things. It seems like odd problems come and go at this site. I had the "hot-linking" of sites within cs.trains all down pat when just the other day I couldn't get it to work at all.

Spell checker works great in PMs but not at all in forum replies.

I just tried "MANAGE PROFILE" in the box at the right, below my screen name.

John, I can't understand why you can't create paragraphs, as I've never run into that particular problem.

If you're referring to the usual paragraph indent, as used in letter writing, it seems to work okay, and if you're talking about spacing a new paragraph from the previous one....

...then hitting "RETURN" once will leave a space between the paragraphs.
If you don't want that space between paragraphs, simply hold down the "SHIFT" key while hitting "RETURN".

I can't see any anomalies in creating paragraphs, although I often forget how to include a working link in mine.  I usually copy the address of the link, then paste it into my "Conversation" and suggest that the addressee copy and paste it into his search thingy.

The entire message, above, was composed in the "Messages" section of my "Profile", then I simply "COPIED" and "PASTED" it here.

As for the "Biography" stuff, I don't have too much to say about myself, so can't offer much advice to anyone else.

Problems Formatting PMs Using the Forum Platform
Posted by Attuvian on Monday, April 1, 2019 10:47 PM

I have moe than one running issue with the Profile and Messsages functions of the forum platform.  My latest is the seeming inability to create paragraphs when sending PMs.  Any helps out there?

While we're at it, how do I post something in the biography portion of my profile?

Thanks

John
