Readers Choice Awards

Just got my May issue of MR with the winners of the RCA. Some were very much a surprise and some seemed obvious. My biggest surprise was finding the Accurail P-S 4750 covered hopper was the Runner Up in the HO Box Car Kit category but not listed in the appropriate category of HO Scale Hopper/Covered Hopper.

I just paged through the 2019 "Winners" myself. Some left me scratching my head. Good products, yes, but I wonder how the nomination process works?

HO Passenger car— Winner! Broadway Limited California Zephyr? These came out ten years ago. (No mention of the Rapido Budd Dome?)

HO freight car— The Kadee PS-1? Even older still.

Best HO rolling stock kit? Kadee PS-1 again?

HO Flat car/intermodal? Athearn F89 Auto Rack? Another four or five year old model.

DCC Power pack? PS2012. Maybe this is a recent upgrade (or not) it has been around for years.

The list goes on but I just cited a few that I'm familiar with. Congratulations to the winners. I'm glad to see I've had so many 2019 Reader Choice models on my layout all these years.

Cheers, Ed

It's like baseball before Toronto and Montreal got franchises. They called it the world series but wouldn't invite any other countries to participate.Laugh
