Thanks, everyone. I found the Kato semi, and it looks like just what I want. I also found a store on Ebay called "Paulas Hobbies" (savonart) which has some nice looking vehicles.
I wish there were more, but I may check with my son-in-law who has a nice 3-d printer to see if he can play around with making something that looks good.

York 1,
Kato makes a nice Kenworth tractor and tractor with container and chassis. Also Athearn made some nice Mack and Ford tractors that are still available in some well stocked hobby shops. Also Trainworx just announced a new tractor and beverage trailer that should be posted now on their website but will probably give you sticker shock.
Personally I really like the Kato Kenworth. Hope this helps.

PS. As a fellow N scaler I feel your pain!
Like Mike said...not much out there. If I scroungs real hard, I occassionially find something that I can use but it is typically too old for me.
I really do not understand it. There is clearly a good market for N scale vehicles but for some reason, no one makes much. I don't want the Shapeway stuff because my hands are not steady enough to do a good job buiding them.

I did a quick search for N scale tractor trailer, and found a few things, from Shapeways, trainworx as some stuff. but it says "coming soon", any thing Walthers has is "sold out", which is the norm.
It just takes a lot of searching, and be prepared to pay. No way around it.
Look for just tractors, look for just trailers.
What works against you is the glut of modelers that do the "transition period", wich dominates whats out there.
Happy searching.
Mike.

Does anyone have a good source for N Scale semi trucks and trailers? I checked Classic Metal Works, but most of theirs seem to be older trucks (unless I was looking in the wrong place).
I have found several 3-D printing sources but most were not what I wanted either.
Promotex looks to be most European style semis.
The N Scale Vehicle Association is a closed group I don't really want to join.
I'm looking for semi trucks you'd see today on the Interstate.
