Digitrax Consisting
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 31, 2004 6:36 PM
Ive got 2 genesis SD70MACs that i always run together. They have been at the modules running on DC or at the club on the Easy DCC system but i just recently got my layout up and running. I have the digitrax zephyr system and could you please tell me how to consist them. Pretty soon i will resort to putting them both on the programming track and programming one address.....[B)]

If the problem is that it isn't working when you follow the directions on page 26 of the Zephyr manual, then there's a good chance that someone set up your locomotives as a consist at the club by entering a Consist Number into CV19 of each of their decoders. There are several ways of setting up a consist- the Zephyr decoder manual doesn't describe this one, since it's a more complicated one than you need to use with the Zephyr.

You can check this by using the programming track to read the value from CV19 (see the section that starts at the bottom of page 22 of the Zephyr manual). If it is anything other than 0, then CV19 contains a consist number you can use to run the locomotives together. If this is the case, you can exit programming mode, put the locomotives on your track, press [LOCO], type the number you read from CV19, press [LOCO] again, and voila, they'll run as a consist.
