Hi,
I recently aquired two TYCO Locomotives (GP30 Deisel Santa Fe;Alco Century Deisel Burlington Northern). They did work, until I had an failed attempt at fixing a light and oil problem. Apperently, the person I got it from had breathed life into it once before, and didn't fully secure the motor cover on both. I also later found the light was burned out, and the oil problem was fixed easily, but after I lubricated it, it stopped for good (drowned it).
Does anyone know where or how to fix these motors?
Thanks in advance
Liam
Google Tyco powertorque You'll get lots of images, and some YouTubes from guys that have rebuilt them.
Just a start, anyway.

Thanks, I've tried a cover-eliminating fix. The motor runs slower, but at least it drives.
Midwest Northern R.R Thanks, I've tried a cover-eliminating fix. The motor runs slower, but at least it drives.
That suggests that the cover is/was either drgging on the armature or shorting out power to the brushes.

dstarr There was probably nothing wrong with the cover, besides the fact when I used the cover, the motor didn't spin. It was probably putting extreme friction on the shaft.
