Yes, loosen front screw of tender just enough to lift shell and slide drawbar into opening. If you unscrew it completely the retaining nut inside will fall out of place. Also, my tender trucks did not sit well on the tracks causing derailments. Seemed to be caused by drawbar being too high causing it to lift tender. I solved it by the age old method of adding weight in the tender. All good now but not much pulling power. When I get around to it I will see if there is room for added weight in the loco. Biggest complaint is toggling to page 3 and having to hear the voice. Any way around this?
I don't have the Bachmann K4 but I did note that the instructions say to:
To Attach engine with tender you MUST losen the front tender shell screw before inserting the drawbar then retighten screw.
Good Luck, Ed
If this is like the drawbar on the Athearn Genesis UP steam, you should be able to gently push it onto the tender’s Pin. I could be wrong, but it may be bending because part of it is smaller than the pin on the tender so that it can stay attached to the tender.
I just got one of the new Bachmann Streamlined K4s with a TCS WoW sound decoder and while it looks nice and sounds great, it has a funky "Y" connection to the tender. The connector has two little nubs at the ends of the "Y" that does not slide into the tender side without bending the "Y" and I don't want to risk breaking it.
I hear that there is a specific way to do this, but I can't see how. Any help would be appreciated...
