Unfortunately in my screwed up family, for reasons out-of-scope here, Christmas is a season I just try to survive and get through with a minimum of trouble and stress. I have become aware as I've gotten older that this is sadly true for all too many people for various reasons, whether it be they are alone or family strife or other reasons. Those of you who do find Christmas to be happy, count your blessings.
We often forget in the sugary wishes that they sometimes mask the other side that is often unseen, but still there. Don't forget to think-of and pray for those who find Christmas to be a particularly difficult time of year.
On a lighter note since no one has said it yet:
What is Santa's favorite scale?

I hear you, Brother. And truer words were never spoken. There's simply too much emotion and too much at stake during Christmas for so many people. It only takes a careless word and you can see the entire tapestry begin to unravel.
I'm at my computer during a somewhat tense third day when all the daughters are with mom and me for the holidays. Took the grandsons up snow tubing on Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island, BC. Came back to find my second daughter seething for a reason I won't go into here. I just played with Lucy, the IG, for a few minutes, grabbed a Stella, and here I sit.
Tomorrow is a new day. It'll be exciting...I hope.
Oh, and Santa doesn't play favourites. But if he did, it'd be HO for sure.
Yes, this can be a difficult time of year for many. We have had more than our share of family troubles over the years, and this one has had some pretty big challenges.
Still, family is like a lot of things, it's what you make of it.
My wife told me many years ago when we first met and blended our two families, "if your family sucks get a new one". Not meaning that you abandon people, but you do have some control over with whom, and how, you spend your time.
Happy Christmas to everyone here,
Sheldon
